My school year resolutions

Hello everyone!

I am back again with another post! Today I went back to school after a long period of lockdown and summer holidays.

__________

Every year when the school year starts I like to make some new goals and resolution for myself.

I like that feeling of a new beginning and a clean slate that I get every year!

Anyway, back to the post!

Resolutions

physical

__________

• :potable_water: drink 1,5l of water daily :potable_water:

Why: because it helps my body feel better and function better... Should I add anything else?

How: by keeping a bottle of water on my desk while studying.

Notice that I wrote bottle, not mug or glass... The latters are easier to spill. And notebooks don't like water on them, trust me. Neither does your laptop.

• 🏋‍♀work out 3 times a week🏋‍♀

Why: because of all the health and cognitive benefits, but also to take a mental break from studying and to get fitter and lighter.

How: good question. I guess I'll make myself a schedule and stick to it no matter what.

I accept tips on this.

I am often so drained from studying that I have no motivation to do anything once I am done with schoolwork.

• :performing_arts: stop touching my face while studying :performing_arts:

Why: while I study I often find myself reaching at my face or back to "torture" my acne... I'm lucky it's not really bad but by touching it I am making it worse and creating many scars.

How: I couldn't find any solution other than mindfulness and self-discipline: I will pay attention and notice when I start picking my face, and force myself to stop.

• 🤗dedicate time to myself, family and friends twice a week🤗

Why: I often find myself neglecting myself, my family and social relationships once the school year starts.

How: planning. I'll give myself some time everyday to relax and unwind, pursue my ions, spend some time with my family and to chat (not hang out because... Covid has other plans for me) with friends.

• :telephone: keep in with people :telephone:

Why: same as above. I am pretty bad at keeping relationships. I need to improve. I do care but somehow I never end up ing my friends.

How: routine. Every day before going to bed I will send a message to one of my friends. If they answer in real time, we'll chat for a little bit.

• :house_with_garden: help at home and be kind :house_with_garden:

Why: I want to be a good person, student, daughter and sibling. I don't want to forget family or good manners as the school year starts.

How: I'll be more present in daily situations. I will try not to spend all of my free time in my room, but I'll go around the house, help and stay with my family, even if it's just to talk to them.

• :books: never let work pile up and never let yourself fall behind :books:

Why: I had never let study material pile up, but with online leaning at the end of the last school year... Well, I definitely did. And it's really difficult to catch up. Never again.

How: pretty simple, I'll study every time I have to and I will copy my notes as soon as I get home. (Sometimes I need to copy them to give them a structure and make them more readable) Just like I was doing before Covid.

(This is an Italian colloquial word meaning "chill, don't worry, relax")

Why: School stresses and drains me a lot, and it is always in my thought. I am a perfectionist, I worry about the smaller details and I can spend hours making something that I could have made in twenty minutes if I was able to just care less.

I am not saying I'll let my grades drop, of course. I'll just stop worrying about unimportant things. I need to learn to prioritise.

How: reminding myself. I need to get told "scialla" really often, until it becomes part of my thoughts.

(It sounds like I don't want to study anymore, but -no bragging intended- I got a 10/10 as a global grade last year and I am a straight A student ... I need to learn to work smarter and not harder)

• :candy: reward myself :candy:

Why: to keep myself motivated and eager to learn. Sometimes it's not easy to motivate yourself when you see people around you go on by cheating and deceiving.

How: I will plan something I find enjoyable after some studying. I will go for walks, do some shopping, read, listen to music... All small and simple things I find pleasure in doing.

• :jp: practice Japanese :jp:

Why: I want to be able to message with my Japanese friends using Japanese, I love Japanese culture and I want to know about it trough the language, too. Someday I may consider doing a JLPT (Japanese Language proficiency test) exam!

And maybe go to Japan!

How: by using Duolingo on my phone and learning some kanjs every day. I will try and make time for two hours of proper studying per week.
