Hello~ I saw the career challenge post a couple days ago and decided to do one after thinking about the best way to describe my dream career.

1) About me and my school.

I’m a second year college student attending community college. This December I’ll have officially graduated with my Associates Degree in both Arts and Science. Next year I’ll be transferring to a 4-year university to get my dual degree in mathematics and physics. Eventually I’m going to go and acquire a professional degree in Astrophysics.

2) About my degree/career of choice.

Astrophysics isn’t easy to explain, but the best way to tell you about is is with Google’s dictionary explanation; the branch of astronomy concerned with the physical nature of stars and other celestial bodies, and the application of the laws and theories of physics to the interpretation of astronomical observations.

The part of astrophysics I’m working with is the study of dark matter and black planets.

3) How to pursue astrophysics.

Math, astrology, and physics are a major requirement, as well as some chemistry, computer programming, and a deep love for the subject.

4) Why I wanted this career?

To be perfectly honest, I didn’t know i wanted to be an astrophysicist until this past summer, so I’m starting quite late in the game with me being 28 years old. But I’ve always wanted to learn about the stars, how things in other worlds worked, how many other kinds of planets that have intelligent life on them, and so much more. What got me into dark matter and black planets is the fact that we don’t know much about them and dark matter is a key to how the universe works.
