Recently, another wave of scammers have appeared. We thought it was only small, but it's started grow

they'll send messages similar to the old ones, something along the lines of 'thanks for using amino! please go here to find a free gift!' along with a link.

thanks to a recent update to the amino communities, these links are harmless, however we do want to get rid of as many of these s as we can.

information about these s:

• they are all level one s.

• most do not have profile pictures.

• their location is always new york.

team amino sent out an update that made it so the links are completely harmless. if you accidentally click on it, don't worry, nothing is going to happen.

what to do if you find one of these s:

• flag them immediately. if you can, flag the actual rather than the message.

• if you are worried they won't be dealt with quickly enough by simply flagging them, a leader with a link to their profile.

what not to do:

• do not engage with them, messaging them back and saying things like 'thanks' or 'i know you're a scammer' is simply pointless.

• don't wait to flag them or a leader, the longer we leave it the harder it will be to find them and ban them.

if any more updates are shared, i'll be updating this blog when i see them.

-Not just New York. Bots can change their Location, ANYTIME. They can even say, they live in Antartica.

-They send a Link, that will steal your IP-address or activate a Virus.

Be aware.
