PSA: standalone Studying Amino app

Hello, SA!

It’s Cordelia here today with a quick PSA regarding the Studying Amino standalone app.

It has been brought to our attention that the Studying Amino standalone app is going to be removed from app stores.

When is this happening?

We are not sure, but it is happening soon.

The standalone Studying Amino app is not controlled by us, the leadership team, nor was it developed by us. We do not have any say in when the standalone app will be removed. All we know is that it’s happening soon.

What does this mean?

This means a couple of different things;

Firstly,

the app will no longer show inside of app stores. This means that people wishing to install the standalone Studying Amino app will no longer be able to do so.

Second,

if you are a of the standalone app, you will not be affected unless you uninstall the app. If you uninstall the app, you will no longer be able to reinstall it.

Third,

the standalone app does not display the same as the actual Studying Amino community in the main Amino app. It is missing numerous amounts of updates, and does not reflect everything that is offered.

We highly recommend installing the main Amino app. You will not have to create a new . You can do so by going to your phone’s app store and searching “Amino”. It’ll be one of the first results.

Update 2:

For everyone experiencing bugs right now, this update is happening tomorrow and will require absolutely everyone to update their app. Amino is pestering everyone into updating and that's why you're getting false bugs and alerts that your app is not up-to-date! Don't worry, it should be fixed soon.

You didn’t know? I’ve been around in older Amino communities before the Amino main app existed. All the Amino communities has their own standalone apps including Anime Amino, Art Amino, Virtual Space, and so on and so forth.

Amino has now officially announced that standalone apps will be deleted in July!

Not sure how I feel about stand-alone apps being deleted. It’s probably because for people who has been apart of old amino communities, which are widely popular has their own stand alone app, and team amino is actually doing for the reason of putting all the amino communities together in the main Amino app.

Actually I’ve been around far much longer before the Amino main app existed. :sweat_smile:

The reason for the standalone apps being deleted is that Apple gave Amino a deadline to terminate their standalones and if Amino doesn't do this, Apple will. Not sure why, not sure what's the deal with Android standalones, but that's what I heard.
