Hello! Miyuki back, with more tips on school stuff! This time, bullying.
For many schools, if not, ALL SCHOOLS, bullying is a big issue. I have realised some patterns that bullies do and how to stop them, so here they are!
1. "The Friend Technique"
This is one I've had to deal with before. These bullies will pretend to be your friend, then talk behind your back, start being mean to you, etc. What I reccomend doing is tell a teacher or your parents/guardians. I know it doesn't sound useful, but I promise, it works!
When they start being rude directly towards you, they are what is called a Toxic Friend. Toxic Freinds overall, are just bad friends who just use you. I don't want to go into much detail, as that may be triggering, but the link I provided should give some info!
Another way I found useful is this. Get a peice of paper and write down some traits in a Toxic Friend. Add a check mark under one of the traits every time they show that thing. If there are too many check marks, stop talking to them. It may be hard, but it works.
2. "The Victim Card"
To put it simply, the Victim Card bullies will bully you and others, then when asked about it, will answer like they were the victim. They will make it sound like you made up this big long story about them bullying you. Some lines they may use when asked about the bullying are "They are a liar! I have never bullied anyone!","No, I never did that.", and "THEY were bullying me! I was just trying to stand up for myself!"
So, how to stop them? Well, again, tell someone, or find a way to have evidence! In your school, if they let you have your phones out, record them bullying you, but they can not know your recording. If not, get some friends with you next time they attempt to bully you. Your friends will be there for you!
Sadly, I couldn't find any studies on this one, but I can tell you a story about how I stopped a Victim Card!
Alright, so there was this girl at my school, let's call her Brittany because I don't want to use her real name. Brittany always tried to get me and my friends in trouble. Eventually, we all got tired of it and told some teachers. She ended up getting in trouble and hasen't talked to us since! She always played like she was a victim when we told her to stop. If we hadn't told a teacher, she would still make me almost cry every day! The type if stuff she would do is lie, break promises, and try to steal things, EVEN TEACHER PROPERTY!
3. "The Cyberbully"
Simply, a cyberbully is someone who only bullies online. Cyberbullies are more common now because of the internet and gow fast technology is upgrading. A study on them I found online that I thought was interesting is here. Now, cyberbullies are pretty easy to get rid of, and here's how!
Report the comment/post/etc. Some say that means your weak, but it doesn't! It just means "Hey, that was rude and I don't want to argue." This also applies to if your friend or someone random is being bullied. Don't be a witness that doesn't do anything, do something about it if you can! It will make that person feel a lot better, and you'll feel better for helping!
If it's a hate comment, don't reply to it with anger! That will start the comment wars we hear about on YouTube, and we don't need all that drama. Either skip past the comment and keep the anger to yourself, or simply dislike the comment.
Ok, that's all I have today, bye and see you in my next post- MOTIVATION TIPS!
