Hello again, today I’ll be giving you some tips to improve your penmanship.
Firstly have a nice pen
When I say have a nice pen, this means you should get a reliable pen. This means it has no need to be elegant, fancy or too much. Have a pen that won’t fail in the middle of a test, an essay or writing.
Maintain a fair grip
We, especially students have different ways of griping a pen. If you’ve noticed, you grip your pen too firmly, after a few minutes you have already developed a aching hand.
Sometimes we aren’t aware that we’re griping a pen too firmly, that’s why we should check our hands randomly.
The goal is keeping our hands relaxed the full time of writing. To relax your hands, try not to be too nervous of writing.
Start with drills
No matter what style you’re writing is, cursive or not. It’s definitely hard to write fancy letters without practicing or at least warming up. One way of practicing, is writing “telephone” lines .
You may rotate your paper
In kindergarten , we were taught to write with the paper in front of us. Now, righties are used with the paper traditionally in the vertical position. But some lefties ( I know two) have to rotate the paper which is completely fine.
Practice with a worksheet
If you’d like a more structured practice in writing, you may use a worksheet. Now, the purpose of the worksheet is much like an examination. It will result to how much knowledge you have.
If you’d like me to make a worksheet, you may inform me in the comments. I’d be happy to make one.
Sneak into practice when you can
If you’ve got time and interest, you may start a journal or a private diary. The writings don’t need to be long, as long as they are sufficiently enough to give you practice.
You may practice by writing letters to people (this doesn’t mean you have to give them away) . If you don’t want the letters to be given away, you may secretly keep them or burn them.
Practice on lines paper or template
Writing straight is the secret to neat hand writing. You may place a piece of lined paper under a piece of bond paper, eventually you’ll see the lines and use them as a guide.
Embrace your own style
We have many ways of writing. So many, in fact that no two anonymous students could share the same handwriting. Yes, some look identical but having the exact same A-Zs doesn’t happen everyday.
I once have a classmate on my third to forth grade, his penmanship was on war. He was the most brightest on math. His penmanship was literally so messy. He knew about it and he just accept himself. As he grew, (well now he doesn’t me ) he keeps improving his penmanship. (Well, he has to.)
Watch other calligraphers
Personally, find a role model. I have four role models and they love me, inspire me, teach me, and make me feel accepted.
(Grandmother,Hermione,Jane in twilight and Luna)
This will apply to improving your handwriting because role models are suppose to help improve yourself. They serve as a visual representation of what you want to be and what you want to do.
That’s now the end of this post, thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed. Wash your hands, sanitize, be kind to one another and be productive. I love you guys, from a distance.
Parting is such sweet sorrow, till then I’ll be a reading pumpkin.
