Heya, I bet you will be wondering what's this. Well, this is an story I invented for explain the events that happened before the war of human and monsters and little about after.
This chapter is mostly principal about Rouge and his brother David. Rouge is hated by everyone because his black soul and David doesn't know the meaning of his soul, white. These two brothers are alone agaisnt a world filled with injustices and fear.
Will you be able to guess its meaning?
Hope you like the story ^w^
----- Story -----
Many of you will not know my story, many of you will only know the rumors about me. To most I am a devilish, murderous, bloodthirsty and merciless being. He... well, maybe some of those rumors are partly true, but before you start judging me like that, let me tell you the TRUE story of my life.
It all started a long time ago, at a time when monsters and humans were at war. It was a beautiful fall day like any other, leaves rustled in the wind, as trees danced in the the cool breeze that flew through the valley. Slopes of mountains were covered by fog and mist, the landscape had a muddy, almost yellowish tone to it, making it almost sickening to look at. But in the distance, the fog seemed to part so you could faintly see an outline of a structure, a city of black walls and towers high as mountains rose at the top of the hill. That city was the capital of the kingdom of Kingslair, home of the supreme lords. My home.
A young hooded rider was barely visible near the walls. He wore a cloak like the darkest night, and rode a horse with black fur, and, even though it was faint, you could still make out the red glow of the riders eyes.. Or at least that was the description that the villagers gave when they saw me.
Yes, that rider was me. Rouge Kuro, son of Edduard Kuro, prince of Kingslair kingdom and the realm, soul of hatred, lord of death and desolation, last member of the order of the "schwarzen drache" or “Black Dragon” if you prefer. My reputation wasn't that of your typical fairy tale hero, but neither did it reach the point of becoming a threat to everyone.
But let's stop talking about me and let's talk about who matters, right?
In that city lived a young man of 14 years, had light brown hair, blue eyes like a clear summer sky, or possibly as a sapphire, in fact the definitions varied depending from the geographical area, that young man wore a dress exactly identical to mine, only mine was black and red, his was light blue and white. That young man was my 14-year-old little brother, David Kuro.
The day, that I returned after 6 years of training to home, my brother was in history classes. The classes of that time are not like the ones you have, having an education was a miracle at that time, then the classes we had were: writing, reading, math, science, arcane arts which was divided into links and runes, and then there was history. HOWEVER, if you belong to a royal family (like me) you had to learn strategy, which was my favorite, istration, manners, nomenclature of nobles and the one I hated the most, speeches. Yes, we had a class dedicated to giving those boring speeches that nobody wanted to hear but they came only so that the king does not look like an idiot that might as well be talking to a rock. Well, we were talking about my brother. My brother was in history class with the Master Sage. The Master Sage was, like the usual old crazy man from fairy tales who helps the hero to find their destiny, more or less like that, except crazy. He was old, very very old, had a long gray beard, wore a typical black tunic with a golden symbol of a dragon, a typical attire of a master.
-What was the war of Divine Royalty?- The master asked
-The war of Divine Royalty, or also known as Crimson war, was a civil war between the Woodshields to see who took the valley throne.- David remarked without hesitation, confidence showing in his voice.- Royce, the second son of Wilhem, confronted his older sister Dian and his other three brothers. Royce finished victorious, his three brothers died because of him and Dian fled to his husband's house after her defeat in the duel between she and her brother. Andrus, Dian's husband, suddenly attacked Royce and the kingdom of The Reach we know nowadays was born.
-Well done. I see you studied.- The master said, smiling approvingly. - But, however, you forgot that Andrus waited for three years to make enough big rebellion to face Royce, and after that, Royce erupted in anger and attacked The Reach, but to no avail. It was not until the supreme king David II acted and said that there was already enough bloodshed and peace was signed.- He said correcting David.- Apart from that, you have done very well.
-Thank you, Master, however, there is still a question I have for you.- David said doubtfully.
-I am listening.- The master said.
-Why didn't the supreme king, David II, act before that? I mean, he could have avoided a lot of deaths and suffering.- David asked curiously.
Sage did not hesitate, “The supreme king did not come before because he was busy confronting the monsters that were coming from the south.” David, upon hearing his master's response, wanted to say more, but was interrupted by an emissary entered the room and gave David a message that he did not expect. I had returned.
I started trotting to the palace gates. If you do not know how it was Kingslair you will not know the feeling it gives when you go through it.
Kingslair was divided into several sectors, the lowest was what we call "hillside", there lived peasants, farmers and poor people, the houses were separated from each other, large fields of wheat, barley, etc. And the roads were very wide. The second sector we call "market", we call it that because there are celebrated festivities, dances, where the taverns are mostly located and where you can find merchants who come from far away to sell their products. To the third sector we call it "Hill", that's where the wealth starts to be seen, the houses started to be bigger, wider, taller, then the people dressed elegantly, there to see a beggar was impossible. The fourth sector and the last one we call it "Keep", obviously because that's where the palace, the barracks and much more are located. It was at the top of the hill.
I have already explained how it was in appearance. But you do not know what the people were like.
As you progressed people became more... rude. By "hillside" the villagers and peasants gave you a warm welcome, the children sometimes played or threw flowers while you were advancing, some even asked you to cast some spell.
Well, that's what I did. They asked for a spell and I used a kind of mixture between Bravery's magic plus fire making a kind of fireworks. I their warm and innocent laughs.
Then in "market" people started to look at me strange, because I belonged to royalty, they had to kneel when they saw me. Then on "Hill" you forget about being received if you do not belong to an important family. The "Hill" folks were greedy, selfish and very very rude.
So once I got to the palace gates I saw my brother waiting at the doors and when he saw me he ran as fast as he could and hugged me and, of course, I was really uncomfortable, I don’t like hugs.
-Brother, you know I don't like hugs.- I said really uncomfortable.
-You have been 6 winters out of home.- David said when he stopped hugging me -How old are you now?-
I raised my eyebrow because I knew he perfectly knew my age.
-I don't know.- I said faking a tone of curiosity and doubt -How old am I?-
-You will never change.- David said laughing- 16?-
I raised my eyebrow again.
-That's a yes for me.- He said.
-And you are 14 now.- I remarked.
-So, tell me. What did happen during my absence?- I said filled with curiosity. -The Brightdale have tried again to loot food from the warehouse to survive the winter once again?-
-No, they didn't. These years seem they have had a good harvest.-
I was happy, but another part of me was tired and anxious. At that time eating and drinking was very important to us and I was anxious of that. So I proposed to my brother to go to the inn that is in the peripheries of the market to speak and, obviously, to eat.
So we went to the inn, "The Healthy Fox" where a friend of mine worked there.
The Healthy Fox was a big building of triangular wooden roof, stone walls covered by wooden beams, yellowish crystals by firelight from within and was two floors high. Now, don't confuse Inns with Taverns. Inns were places where you could eat, drink and sleep while taverns you could drink and eat but not sleep.
So we knocked on the door and a woman with green eyes like emeralds, brown hair pulling light blond treated us. That girl, Benigna Greenfire, was my friend since I was 5 years old. When Benigna recognized my face she gave me a huge hug.
The inn inside was as you would imagine, overflowing with hungry and thirsty people, luckily there was a free table where Benigna, David and I sat and shared the stories about my training as a member of the order "schwarzen drache".
After my story, Benigna went to the kitchen and brought drinks for the three of us and we toasted.
-For the return of the king! - Benigna said laughing
-For the return of the king! - David said following the game to Benigna.
I was very annoyed with the idea of becoming a king but still give and say it.
- For the return of the king and that and more... - I said and I drank.
There was a small moment of silence in which only the music that the bard played and the conversations of the adventurers that were heard. One of theirs conversations really caught my attention, one that said about a patrol that went to the kingdom of the monsters to investigate and has not returned for 5 months.
- How did you know I work here?- Benigna said curiously. - I have not been working in this inn for a month.
- Very easy. - I said and prepared to take another sip again - As I went to the palace I saw you heading to this inn.
- But...
- But could it be that I came here to eat? - I Interrupted Benigna. - It's a possibility, but I saw you with the apron that is used in THIS INN concretly. So I deduced you worked here. - I took the last sip and prepared to ask about that rumor. - What's all that about a missing patrol?
- I see that old Rouge is back, you always find out everything, no matter how irrelevant it is. - Benigna said laughing, I don't know if she was laughing because of what she said or if it was because she started to get drunk.- Five months ago, your father sent a patrol south.- She took a sip of the drink - Towards the kingdom of monsters.
-They ed Wall?- I asked
The wall was a construction of about 3 centuries ago made to defend ONLY Kingslair from monsters, not the whole realm. Do not get me wrong, it's not a big wall as you probably imagine, it's just a normal wall between two mountains of possibly 1 kilometer long, and then there is a city with the same name, "Wall".
-They ed the gates.- Benigna took another sip as her face flushed, hiccuping uncontrollably; she was definitely drunk.
When she finished speaking she look at our tankards and she went to the kitchen to get more, however I refused the drink and I offered her the money to pay the cost.
-D-don’t worry about it.- Benigna giggled, -It’s on the house.-
After thanking her, me and my brother gathered our belongings and headed out.
The next day we received news that a man had come from the southern road and David and I decided to investigate. It turned out that this man belonged to the patrol that my father sent months ago to the kingdom of monsters and was the only survivor of an ambush. Which made me suspicious. Why only leave a survivor of a patrol of 100 soldiers? How is it that he has taken almost 5 months to get from Wall to here if there is only a distance of 2 or 3 days? His story made me uncomfortable, but I decided to hear him out.
-So you say that the monsters took you prisoner during those five months?- I said doubtful. Even if what he said made sense, it seemed very suspicious to me.
-Yes, they did.- Rob said.
-How did the ambush happen?- I asked to Rob
-I don't know. I was in a tavern when it just…. sorta happened.-
-But you said before that you were in middle of the ambush.- David asked.
-Did I say that?- Rob said nervously, then cleared his throat. -I mean... yeah, I did. That the tavern was in middle of the field where it happened.-
His story was one of the stupidest thing I've ever heard, and that made me suspect more about the intentions of our little friend the only survivor of the ambush.
After the interrogation, I decided to go to Wall to investigate.
-Do you really have to leave?- David asked me. -You just came back!-
-Sorry brother, this whole thing is very suspicious and I need to investigate it.- I said while hoisting myself onto the horse's back. -I will be back soon, I promise.-
When I got to Wall I saw something horrible. That city was desolate. Everything was burned: houses, crops, people. I decided to approach and observe dust on the ground, you would think it was ash, why, I certainly did at first; but upon further investigation I realized it was; dust. The unmistakable dust of a monster, but I also saw that the monsters had not taken any single human soul. But, why?

I thought this was a parody of Stories Untold.
Why does this art remind me of bendy and the ink machine?
Idk, I don't see any similarities between BATIM and this
