This is based off the Roman goddess Janus. He is the the Roman goddess of new beginnings, ends, and doors. Once I saw doors I was like "totally doing Gaster". He has a big ol' key because somewhere in some article it said Janus always had a key with. And how can you unlock doors without some type of key.
