i literally used an art reference for this and i still struggled with shading the wings– i basically went "RANDOM BS GO" with them and the background too.

amazing! i can smell the effort, although i have a few tips for ya. i'm no expert on art, but i hope this gives you some ideas
1, try to make the overall shading look more 3D. the individual parts are great, but it still looks a bit flat on a perspective sense. as in, make sure the shaded areas are much darker, and the lighter ones will naturally shine. the whole image will pop out more.
2, make the wings forshortened, or it'll look wonky. i mean, don't be afraid to make the proportions squished in some areas, so from the viewer it'll look more correct. for example, Spamton is facing our right a little more, so the left wing should be a bit more squished than the other one. unless it's intentional, of course.

one of my problems is that i'm afraid of using colors that are too dark/overshading so i end up undershading instead, so i really need to just let myself use darker colors haha.
and i can see how the wings look wonky, i've never attempted foreshortening and it really doesn't help that i don't know how to draw wings at all, so i don't really have a clue on how to make it work lol. ^^;
