Messy Sans

Hey hi hello again

Im still trying to keep making things at a decent rate. Hit that sweet spot between burning out and forgetting how to draw

And I realised it’s been a hot minute since I’ve given Sans an attempt. And, given that my last attempt looked like this

I think I needed to be to be redeemed

Since I have a lot on my plate right now, i made another messy piece!

Much like Messy Frisk before, I’m used a medium I need practice with. Namely, paint pens.

And another similarity is that I did this piece in the same roughly two hour slot I did Frisk in: the time between eating and running to catch my bus to work.

Once again, I started with a coloured paper and washi tape background, and I added until it felt right

After that, I worked on my sketch. And, I’ll be honest, I put way too much work into making it decent before I ed that paint pens are opaque and it wouldn’t help me when lining at all

Live and learn, I guess.

Painting was easy. Trying to shade wasn’t.

I’ve used paint pens for abstract drawings, where the colours don’t really matter before. But using my limited palette to try and and make something with specific colours that’d look weird if I swapped them? I’m not used to that

I realised that you can mix the colours, though, as long as you’re quick enough to catch them before they dry. So I got there in the end

I had to correct the shape of the arm, and I had to add some more visual interest, so I outlined him in bold pen so I could cover the mistake, and added splatters around to try and distract from the fuck up lmao

And after that, all I had to do was slap him onto the background, fill the void at the top of the page with my poor handwriting, and boom

He isn’t great, but he’s better than before!

Thats redemption, baybee!

I mean, the mess I left behind isn’t great but…

Thats future me’s problem
