Greetings!

This is yet another contribution for the Neutrals, this time checking Prompt 3, Howling Determination.

I've never written things like this before [fights], so it's a new thing to me too.

Enjoy!

Edit: I greatly thank for featuring my work! I'll fix some typos I made along the way.

Every monster has heard of my fame

All villains tremble, when they hear my name.

I am the hero, that even Hell fears!

I am the Justice, the heroic spear!

•.:°❀×═════════×❀°:.•

She, the Spear of Justice, lands with might on the cold, sea-blue surface, sending a shock of power through the whole Underground.

She leers at the human with her frightening golden eyes.

She raises her Spear high into the air, as the tension rises.

She is Undyne.

She is the Hero of the Underground

and she mustn’t let her kingdom down.

NGAAAAAH!

She lets out a cry of war, hurling infinity of spears at her foe.

Her enemy is a powerful one, but she isn’t giving up, even if her fate was to die here.

The human counters the rain of azure with an emerald spear of their own, perfectly deflecting the insane amount of magic thrown at them. They charge against the heroine in a graceful movement, kicking her in the teeth.

The Heroine is taken aback, but she doesn’t waver. No. Never.

She chases her enemy into a corner, continuously flinging shining rapiers towards the human.

She pierced the human’s arm, hearing a cry filled with pain.

The human growls in distress, as they try to find a way out of this trap. Alas, there seems to be no exit. They turn against the Heroine with a vicious glare, spinning a pirouette, which strikes her abdomen armor quite hard.

The Heroine falls back into a kneel. The human uses this rare opportunity to run away into the dark cavern under the heaven-reaching hill.

•.:°❀×═════════×❀°:.•

Striking, retreating, so this is your plan!

Like a scared child, like a coward you ran!

You cannot run, you can’t flee from me

I’ll take your soul and make my kingdom free

•.:°❀×═════════×❀°:.•

Undyne rises in newfound determination. She sprints with unbelievable speed, reaching the human in seconds.

The human lets out a surprised gasp, as they did not expect it. They trip, rolling still forward with a hellbent warrior in their tracks. They manage to get on their feet and continue to run.

The Heroine never ends her noble pursuit.

In a brief moment of the human’s distraction, she lets loose a myraid of cyan magical spears.

However, this time the human expects the attack. They find an entrance in between the Heroine’s javelins and gracefully kick in her legs with full force.

A loud crack resonated through the Waterfalls and still echoed through, even if the deed was done long ago.

Undyne screams in pain, as she collapses onto her three remaining limbs.

“No! No! Why?” she hisses. She can already feel her right leg to dissolve into tiny particles of dust. This wasn't natural. How could a human child have this much power, with their pierced arm and everything?

The human stops running.

They turn back, slowly retracing their steps to where the Hero has fallen.

Their still expression grows more unsettling by every step they take.

The human finally arrives at the Heroine’s future grave.

They do, what they’ve never done before.

They smile and open their eyes.

Their eyes were the color of blood and their pupils were shrunk into the size of a fingertip.

The human lets out a crazed laugh.

“Oh, so you’re the Hero, huh? The supposed guardian of monsters? I expected a lot more of you then this,” they mock the fallen warrior.

“I am the god of this world and no boundary can ever bind me! I’ve seen everything. I know everything there is to know! I can even increase my power by hundreds of units by a snap of a finger!”

The human crouches in front of Undyne’s head to taunt her. She is ing herslef by her arms and melting by the effects of her own determination, but isn’t giving up.

“Aw, what’s the matter? The Spear of Justice is too blind to see right ahead of herself?”

The particles of dust fly out and return, again and again to retain Undyne’s shape.

“You may be a Heroine, but I am the Angel of Death. I was at the beginning and I will continue to be long, long after you’re de--”

Suddenly, the self-proclaimed “Angel of Death” jerks backwards. They find a blue spear striking through their heart.

They remain wordless as they lean forward, hand on their SOUL.

“I… I w..ill return….

..certain...ly”

The blood colored soul of the mad human shatters into pieces.

So, this was all for nothing at the end?

Searching for a soul, but once you get it at your hand’s reach, it vanishes?

Was it all for nothing?

No.

I might feel myself splitting into ash, as I have nothing to be determined for anymore, but…

I stopped the beast from reaching Alphys… oh, Alphys. You know I did this for you.

I did this for all of you.

Who else would have the guts to stand up to never seen before terror?

Nobody, but a hero.

Sometimes, someone has to sacrifice themselves for others...

“And it’s a hero’s duty to self-sacrifice.”

“Isn’t that right, my greatest fan?”

“U-UNDYNE!”
