Undyne and Alphys: Bloodborne style

I know I haven’t posted in a while, or, at least nothing meaningful.

But, I have some art.

Yes, I have made undertale art in 2018. Who would’ve thunk it.

But, surprisingly, I do.

Anyway here it is

Undyne and Alphys: Bloodborne style

since 99% of Y’ALL don’t know what Bloodborne is, I’ll explain.

It’s an action game based somewhere in the gothic 1860s, where the town of Yharnum has a miraculous cure for literally everything: the old blood, which is distributed by the Healing Church. Many people from around the world come to Yharnum to cute themselves of their sicknesses.

Unfortunately, the old blood has the side affect of turning everyone into beasts as well. To cleanse the streets of the beast plague, Hunters have been enlisted to kill the beasts.

What I love about it is how it starts out as a simple gothic horror, with beast men and werewolves, but then evolves into eldritch horror, with mind bending nightmares and giant great ones.

Gameplay wise, it’s basically a faster version of dark souls. It is a PS4 exclusive, so if you want to try it out (which is highly recommended), you better be saving up for a PS4 if you don’t have one already.

It’s become one of my favorite video games of all time, which is why I’ve drawn Undyne and Alphys using bloodborne clothing that fits them the best.

For Undyne’s clothing I drew her in the “cainhurst armor” set, as it’s the only armor set that’s made out of metal and looks like knight armor, while every other armor set is made from cloths or leather.

For Alphys I drew her in the “choir” set, as it looks a lot like her scientist outfit, and the choir are of the Healing Church who are scientists.

For their weapons and equipment, I used what fit their magical abilities the best

For Undyne’s weapon I gave her the “holy moonlight sword” as its transformed form is a blade made of aqua blue magic. Although Undyne uses spears and there are spears in bloodborne, this sword fit the type of weapons she uses, as she uses magical blue weapons. This sword can also shoot our projectiles similar to how Undyne throws spears.

For Undyne’s hunter tool, I gave her the “black sky eye” which shoots out a beam from the player’s eye. I gave her this because in the genocide route, her left eye loses its eyepatch and magic flows from it, which is similar to how this hunter tool works.

For Alphys’s weapon I gave her the “tonitrus” as it’s a mace that can electrify itself. I gave her this weapons because Alphys uses electric magic, albeit very brief when flowey traps all the characters in the pacifist run.

For Alphys’s hunter tools I gave her the “call beyond” and “auger of abrietas”. The call beyond creates several energy balls above the player before homing in on enemies. The auger of ebrietas summons tentacles from the great one: ebrietas. Both items are experiments of magic, something that Alphys is great at.

I started out with a pencil drawing, then I traced it all with pen, erased the pencil, and then I colored it all. The entire thing took about 3 weeks, as I didn’t work on it all in one sitting. It also took a lot of work figuring out their stats and what items in the game would fit them the best.
