Monster - Random Writing

T/W: mentions of graphic violence and gore. Nothing is very detailed, but wanted to warn y’all just in case.

The city streets laid out in eery silence. This once bustling metropolis now sat in fear, holding its breath night after night. The creature that lurked down dark alleys, in the shadows around every corner, crept along the streets looking for its next victim. It was on the prowl, and it’s prey was anyone unfortunate enough to cross paths with it. With the stories on the television and the newspapers, you’d think it was a monster straight out of a nightmare. And some aren’t sure it isn’t.

The way it would mutilate its victims, leaving them out on display like some sort of twisted art show— a gallery of corpses posed and painted with their insides. If this were a horror movie, one might even be able to ire the creativity behind each gruesome murder. But in reality- in the state of crippling fear that has gripped the people of this city- people can only wonder what kind of monster has invaded their lives. What kind of beast can do these horrific things to another living thing without hesitation? Without remorse? Without guilt?

It’s clear to everyone that this creature enjoys the thrill of the kill. They take their time, carving around every major artery and vital organ, ensuring the prey lives as long as possible through the torment.

They meticulously slice through the flesh, taking their time to precisely carve and cut away at the victim. By the time they’re done, you can’t even recognize their victim as human. What’s left on display is more abstract, something humanoid in shape (sometimes), but could never in a million years be distinguished as a person. Maybe that’s the point though; maybe the monster that prowls our dark streets is trying to tell us something. How could a person do something like this after all? Maybe...they aren’t a person at all...

This creature from our nightmares is the thing we fear most: human darkness. The evil and twisted nature that we are all capable of. The difference between us and this monster though? They’ve embraced their human nature. They’ve transcended the boundaries that keep the rest of humanity in check. Because we all know there is nothing more dangerous than humankind.
