Update: I’ve unpicked it and I’m turning it onto a pillow
I’m thinking this ocelot fur, it’s not a leopard or cheetah but some small spotted wildcat.
It’s definitely not dyed either, I’m thinking of picking it apart and just keeping the fur as it’s been sitting around for years stuffed in storage.. not that I will have much use for it as just a piece of leather either but I may find something to do with it.
Anyone have any idea of species? Or any tips on how to pick apart stitching old leather without damaging it?
I’m thinking this was probably made by using two animals as the dark markings and ‘stripes’ are back markings.

Hmm, not sure what it could be either :/ i could ask some of my taxidermist acquaintances if you want?
Alright, so i asked a few of the collectors, taxidermists and fur sellers i know what they think it could be. They mostly agreed on ocelot, though it could also be an oncilla!
