Hello and Nice to meet you all!

Since I am quite new to this community I thought of doing the get to know me challenge as my first post!

So let's get started with my #GtkyChallenge !

What is your favorite historical topic(s)?

I have several topics in history I like alot so I will just list the ones that come to my mind grouped into a few small categories!~

~Japanese History~

For Japanese history I have several things find very interesting but on a broader spectrum I do have a larger interest in Japan of the the 10th and early 11th century, especially the Asuka, Nara and Heian period. It is a very diffrent Japan to what we nowadays imagine since especially in Asuka and Nara period Japan the japanese Court was heavily influenced by Korea and especially Tang era China! Also some of the most important literary works were made in that time.

Then two other periods I love to talk about are Taisho and Meiji era Japan which are late 19th and early 20th century Japan and they were the periods where Japan modernised at a rapid speed.

I also really like the literature of this period so thata probably also why I like these two periods~

So the islands that are now are Okinawa used be not part of Japan and their own islands of Ryukyu and also had their own kingdom and nowadays the people do still have their own culture. Both their culture and history are very interesting to me as well~

I also really find Ainu history and culture very interesting and love to study it~

~Korean History~

[BC]Hello and Nice to meet you all!

[BC]Since I am quite new to this community I

For Korean history I am a bit more broad since basically anything before the 20th century is interesting for me  :joy: since in the west there is such a focus on the korean war and then the two koreas and in Japanese studies there is a focus on the colonial times and if you learn about Korea in those context it kinda feels like there is no context of the actual culture of the countries and so I got interested in the history prior to that~

~Chinese History~

For chinese history I like ancient Chinese history the most but if I had to pick a period I read and learn the most about its the tang dynasty which was from 618 to 907

~History of the Americas~

Favourite figure(s)?

[BC]Hello and Nice to meet you all!

[BC]Since I am quite new to this community I

For historical figures I really like I have chosen 3~

First is Wu Zetian who lived from 624 to 705 and was the only female empress in Chinese history and also briefly had her own dynasty~

Then we have Sei Shonagon who lived from 966 to probably 1025 or 1017 histoians are sure actually  . She wrote the pillow book one of the japanese classics~ she was a lady in waiting at the heian court~

and lastly is Fukuzawa Yukichi who lived from 1835 to 1901 and is one of the people who shaped the thinking on meiji era Japan and he had some really good ideas. He is also the founder of the Keio University and right now is on the 10.000¥ note.

Favorite battle(s)?

I really have no interests in wars or battles and usually skip that part

Favorite march/song(s)?

Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker

Tbh I not much of a person for marches or so but I did dance ballet and love Tchaikovsky' works especially the nutcracker~ i just have many fond memories with it~

the ballet was first performed in 1892 in Saint Pertersburg~
