”I know we never got along as well as I’d have liked, and I feel like I have myself to blame…”

A sigh came out. Filling the cold air of the snowing Tabantha Frontier with visible breath. The play of children and music flared as the stable along the cold environment was bursting with cheer.

”I never knew what your problem with me was, but even so, it’s too late for me for apologize.”

”I…”

The writer paused. He thought about what to say next.

”I know important you are to your people. Even after your death, you’re a shining beacon. One that every single Rito wants to be.”

”It hurts… It really hurts. I can think off the top of my head my relationship with Urbosa… Daruk… Zelda…” He sighed again. “Mipha…”

”I didn’t have any problems with them. But… I feel like I’ve been such a burden for you and now I’m not able to apologize…”

”I just want you to know that you’re the greatest. Most talented. Incredibly powerful warrior I have ever met. I never seen anyone do the things you do. I wish I could fly and control the wind at will like you can.”

”It’s my fault. You get so irritated when I’m involved and I never apologized. I can’t help but feel guilty. Your grief remains even after death… I know it might be too late but, Revali…”

”I’m sorry…”

The writer looked at the entrance of the stable. He walked out and began wandering the Tabantha Frontier, looking up at the Hebra Mountains.

*Whooooooooosh…*

The snow of the mountains blew against the writer. He went to the top and looked at his letter. Then he smiled upon reaching a tombstone.

Revali

The Hero of the Rito

It read.

He used his hand to scoop at the snow, and then he buried the letter, patting the snow so the wind couldn’t blow it away. He nodded then jumped down the mountain, deploying a paraglider to slowly descend down the hills.

Suddenly… the grave began to glow a warm green. A large wing rose from it, taking the note… “Another fan, I presume?” A voice came from it, before his frame fully rose out of the grave. A Rito warrior with a striking dark blue and white plumage, along with leather armor across his body. He opened it up, reading the contents.

His eyes widened when he saw the name of the man who wrote it. “Link?…” He asked.

Revali looked down sadly. “So that’s how I came off, eh?…” He asked as he flapped his wings, wind stirring around his body as he started flying over the Tabantha Tundra.

Revali got a lot of letters. A lot from irers… Looking at the frozen wasteland below him… Revali always thought, no, knew that he never really knew anyone in his life. Ever. His parents were never around… He was always on his own. When he finally got the power he’s been training for his whole life, he was ecstatic. All of the attention it got a poor street boy like him. He was finally different from other Rito… But then he saw these.. Champions… These people were born with what they had. These pomps. They all acted so nice to him too. The Zora girl, the Goron, the Gerudo. All beaming with kindness. Probably because of their birthright.

Pathetic trust funds. And Link was no exception. Being born with cool powers is bad enough, but being the one who’s supposed to stop the darkness?… Why couldn’t Revali, the one who worked his feathers off for it, have that honor? He’s just some sidekick. Was… He was a sidekick…

By that point, Revali felt like he could take on anything… But, man was he wrong. How could he forget it? The reason he’s a spirit? How could he forget the searing pain?… That monster’s lasers burning holes through his body, finally melting through his heart.

But death really changed Revali… Hard to do much when you’re dead… Despite being pivotal in the fight against the Great Calamity, he still felt like he could’ve done more… Maybe… Talked more… Revali sighed, his breath wasn’t visible in this cold due to his spiritual body. He never told anyone how he really felt. He never went out of his way to make any friends… His social life was broken, fractured by arguments, ego, and jealousy… And unfortunately for him, it’s too late to fix it now…

But… Seeing this letter… From someone he truly knew. Maybe it isn’t too late for him yet… Maybe in the afterlife, where everyone has to go one day, maybe then he can fix what was broken for so long…

Only time will tell…

Dear, Revali…-[bci]”I know we never got along as well as I’d have liked, and I feel like I have myself to blame…”
