It is not known entirely known among the twili how Althea came to be. Before Althea was born, her mother was a hylian historian who had a keen interest in the dark secrets of the Hylian Royal Family. She knew she could be tried for treason if they Royal Family found out what Kina was up to. Her mother had yearned so badly for a child, yet she was unable to have one. Kina learned of the dark magic of the twili. Instead of being afraid, she wanted to communicate with them, she wanted to fuse some of her essence with the shadows in hopes of creating another being. Researching discreetly, Kina found out how to create another life form via the shadows of the twili realm. Unfortunately, the Royal family discovered all of Kina's findings and for tampering with shadow magic, she too had been banished to Twili realm.

Waking in a dark Abys lit only by one Sol, Kina sustained severe injuries from the banishment. She knew she wouldn't survive. Kina crawled her way over to the Sol and cradled it tightly as she cried. Her tears fell on to the sol and it began change. After Kina's death, she turned into shadow particles.

The Sol had been touched by Kina's energy, her desires, wishes, hopes, and dreams, and thus, it turned into a twili child. A cruel play on the goddesses part, or a blessing?

Althea was taken in by the twili, as there was no trace of her parents. She had been adopted into a family of performers, and this is where her love for performance became apparent. She grew up having many tutors and coaches, many eyes on her, and she realized she adored it. She adored the feeling of all eyes being on her. Althea grew to be a great twili performer and was an important member of the Theatre of the Banished.

As the years went by, Althea would sometimes find herself thinking of plays or performances. Ideas would come to her in her dreams. They would often include a strange woman who she felt connection with, but had no idea who she was. (Surpise, it's her mother. A hylian who looks nothing like her)

The Incident.

One evening, Althea was rehearsing by herself for a solo performance. It was a telling of the history of Hylia's light and the way she saved Hyrule. Everything had seemed to be going as planned, until tragedy struck. The torch the was being hovered above Althea fell from its enclosure and hit her in the face. The twili are especially sensitive to fire and so the flames burned her quickly. Once the flame disappeared..She cursed the goddes Hylia with all her might. She held her face terrified to see what it now looked like... She ran to a mirror and the woman tried to remove the mask but it wouldn't budge. She couldn't pry it off as it hurt too badly. From this day on, Althea keeps the mask on her face and has sworn against any tellings of the Goddess of Light...

Althea often finds herself longing for something more than the adoring fans of the stage. She sometimes wishes for the close connection of another. She finds herself lonely in her free time, so she makes sure she has little of it. She wants to make friends and maybe eventually find her partner.
