"So I have your maths tests back. In today's lesson we'll go over the answers so you can green pen them." Mrs Perry handed them out in no particular order. "Congrats Marinette, almost full marks! Top of the class." As she handed over the paper Marinette smiled.

"Wow, thank you." As she flipped through the questions the pages were filled with red ticks.

"Ok, everyone pick up a green pen. Some of you will have more work to do than others." Mrs Perry glanced between Adrien and Marinette. "So question one..."

At the end of the lesson Mrs Perry asked to see Adrien. Marinette ducked down to put her pencil case away.

"Adrien, you didn't do as well as I thought you'd do. Is there something going on that I should know about?"

"No, miss. It's just that I don't really understand the topic." Adrien shrugged.

"I see. Marinette?" At the mention of her name she perked up.

"Yeah?"

"I have a proposition to make. Would you mind tutoring Adrien for a few days to help him get his grades up?"

"Oh, um yeah I can do that." She smiled as she put her backpack on.

"Great, thanks a lot Mari." Mrs Perry winked as they walked out of the room.

"I guess I'll see you in the library at lunch time." Adrien grinned and walked down the hallway. Marinette raised her hand slowly to say bye. Well this would be interesting to say the least...

Lunch finally came around and Marinette lay out her math textbooks on the table. Adrien showed up a few minutes later.

"Hey study buddy." Adrien sat down next to her and took his own books out. "What are we learning about today?"

"W-well I thought we could start with the basics and see what you know already."

"Sounds good." They spent the next half an hour doing a range of maths problems, getting trickier and trickier each time. Marinette finally figured out what areas he was struggling with and helped him to try and understand them.

"So for this question you just need to simply this formula." She pointed out the information he needed and helped him use it to answer the question.

"Thanks for helping me, by the way. This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be." He rested his head on his hand and glanced at the bluenette.

"It's no problem..." Marinettte looked down at her hands and blushed slightly. "So, should we do this again tomorrow?"

"Yeah, that'd be great." They locked eyes with each other. Marinette breathed heavily as Adrien shifted closer to her. Adrien lifted his hand up and stroked her cheek. His gaze finally landed on her lips. "Marinette I-"

"Hey guys!" Adrien jolted away quickly and looked up at the person talking.

"Oh hey Alya, what are you doing here?" Adrien collected his books and stuffed them into his bag.

"I was just looking for a book and saw you guys. Thought I'd come over and say hi." Alya grinned at the duo. "But maybe I should've left you be."

"It's fine, I was just leaving. I'll see you later Mari." Adrien waved as he exited the library.

"Yeah bye." Marinette said, breathless. Alya sat down in the seat Adrien was just in and faced her best friend.

"What was that all about?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You and Adrien. The way he looked at you. I think someone has a crush." She nudged her shoulder and started laughing.

"I doubt that Alya." Mari shook her head. "He doesn't like me. Not in that way at least."

"Maybe you should ask him?" Alya shrugged.

"I couldn't do that. I don't want to mess up our friendship if he doesn't feel the same way."

"If you're sure." The bell rang softly as they stood up and walked to their next lesson. "But sometimes love is worth the risk."

The next day Marinette and Adrien once again met in the library. Marinette was too busy thinking about what Alya said yesterday, she had almost ignored Adrien completely.

"Um, Mari? Is everything ok? You seem distracted?" Adrien fiddled with his black pen as he studied Marinette's facial expression. Completely zoned out, there was definitely something on her mind. "Marinette? Hello?" He waved his hand in front of her face as she shook her head quickly.

"Hmm, sorry what?" Her eyes darted around the room before landing on Adrien. She smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, so let's get back to the maths revision." As she went to pick up one of the textbooks Adrien closed it over.

"What's going on Mari? You're more distracted than usual?" He said, softly. "You know you can talk to me, don't you?" Marinette nodded slightly before picking up the book Adrien closed.

"So anyway-"

"You're avoiding the question." Adrien stuffed the book in his bag and crossed his arms. "What's going on?"

"It's nothing ok! Now Mrs Perry asked me to tutor you so that's exactly what I am going to do! So please just drop it!" Marinette quickly snapped back. She immediately regretted it. Adrien only wanted to help. God she was so stupid sometimes. "Sorry Adrien I-"

"No it's fine. I get it. A friend can't be concerned for one if his best friend. So yeah you're right, let's get back to you tutoring me." The rest of the time was spent in almost complete silence, the occasional speaking when explaining a question. As the bell went they both rushed off in opposite directions; not wanting to make things even more awkward than they already were.

On the bus ride home they didn't even sit together (the first time they hadn't since Marinette had ed the school). Marinette kept on taking secret glances behind her to see Adrien writing something on a piece of paper. When he eventually noticed her he turned the paper so she couldn't see what he was writing. Marinette felt hurt. She felt like she had lost one of her best friends. She made a mental note to talk to him tomorrow, she had to make amends. But for now, she let him have his space...
