It's me, everyone, Viera Laei! I’m here! I made it in time for the #FEHAPrompt7! Just barely! I'm only, what, twenty minutes late?

I was so excited about this prompt. I love FEH, and I love idols. One of my top favorite anime is an idol-centric anime. So this prompt was really, really important to me. Originally I was going to draw the Super Smash Six, along with Alphonse, as an idol band. But the prompt just so happened to coincide with the last two weeks of my trimester, and by the time I got free time to finish the piece, which was today, I was processing from having come out of seeing Avengers: Endgame and was in no mood to do anything other than read whatever fanfics people had managed to get up about the movie. (If you can, go see it—you won’t regret it!)

That actually inspired me to write my piece for the prompt instead of drawing it. You’ll still get a bunch of idol!AU stuff from me later because I fell in love with it and will not let it go. But for this prompt, I settled on this. I hope you enjoy it! It’s based on one of my favorite episodes of Uta No Prince-sama Season 2, so if you’ve seen that episode, you’ll recognize the vague plot I outlined.

Anyways, enjoy the show!

The backstage thrummed with nervous energy while the group onstage sang and danced to their newest song. In a dressing room, seven young men, each wearing a white princely uniform accentuated with a different color, watched the television as their rivals entertained the audience. None of the men could speak, their eyes riveted to the screen. But they all shared the same thought.

‘They’re… incredible. Can we really hope to defeat them?’

When the song ended and the audience burst into applause, the seven men blinked and looked at each other, still processing what they had just witnessed. The beige-blond spoke first.

“That was… so amazing, you guys. They’re so good! Maybe if we got the chance to sing together with them—”

“We have to defeat them first, Cory,” said a bluenette with yellow-tipped locks. “They set the bar really high. It’ll be hard to get ahead of them.”

The white-haired man nodded. “They’re also popular, not to mention that the lead and her sister are the daughters of the president of Múspell Studios, who’s the second-biggest producer in the idol world.” The others gave him a weird look. “What? I do my research!”

“We know, Robin,” a tall, thin bluenette replied. “But I’m not worried about the politics, I’d rather fight it out with our music.”

“Chrom’s right!” piped up the lone redhead. “This is a battle of bands, and it relies solely on how well we can reach the people with our song. Kiran put so much work into this arrangement, and I’d hate to fail him by losing.”

The tall, husky bluenette nodded. “We fight for him. And we fight for the friends and fans who helped us get here.” He looked over at the short bluenette who stood in the middle of the group with his face drawn in concentration. “What are you thinking, Marth? You’ve been quiet all this time.”

Marth looked up, his blue eyes sparking with determination. “This may be a contest to see which is the best idol band—but let’s not forget that we are here first and foremost because we want to make people happy through our music. Even if we lose, if we can accomplish that goal… then I’ll take losing graciously. But I know that we have it in us to win. They set the bar high, so let’s jump as high as we can over that!”

“Yes! You’re right!” Cory cheered. The others grinned, and the seven young men stood in a circle with their hands on top of each other.

“Three!”

“Two!”

“One!”

“HEROES!”

“And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for!” the announcer said. “The up-and-coming band that’s competing against FiREZ for the ultimate title of the winners of the UtaPri Award! Give it up for HEROES!”

The audience went wild, cheering and chanting the all-male idol group’s name. In the wings, the seven men waited, along with their faithful composer, Kiran. Each man was tense but determined. The fate of their group was at stake. Win the UtaPri, and they could stay together while FiREZ disbanded. Lose the UtaPri, and they would have to disband and lose Kiran as their composer, with all of their hard work in building up the group going to waste.

Marth couldn’t think about blaming President Askr for what he knew his teammates felt was a risky move. His focus was on the here and now. They would rise to meet the challenge their female rivals set head-on. What happened after that was up to fate. And then the announcer was calling their names as images of them flashed on the screen.

“The friendly and lovable Cory! The loyal and steadfast Ike! The genius and witty Robin! The noble and chivalrous Chrom! The fun-loving, clever Roy! The sophisticated, logical Alphonse! The tenderhearted, faithful Marth! Your HEROES have arrived!”

The stage went dark, and HEROES took their places. Then the lights went up, the music started, and the audience went wild. The seven men sang and danced, and Marth could feel each and every one of them putting their heart, their all, into the performance.

“Nisen PAA (Hey!) SAIKŌ na LOVE (Get You!)

Hajimaru yo (Let's Jump!) Yes! Happy LIVE (Syun! Syun!)

Omatase shimashita! Hoshi wo yozora he (We Are HEROES!!)

Ai wa Shooting Star!! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!”

Out in the audience, countless glowsticks waved in time to the music. The audience’s cheers grew louder, and Marth let himself get swept away into the euphoria.

“Nisen PAA (Hey!) Kono SUUPAA DORIIMU (Get You!)

Saa minna de (Jump!) Yes! Happy START! (Syun! Syun!)

Nijiiro no RABU SONGU, Symphony ni shiyou (We Are HEROES!!)

Ai wo komete…”

Brighter and brighter, energy ri, overflowing, spilling out into his song and dance. His teammates—his friends—seemed to share the same feeling.

“Nisen PAA (Hey!) SAIKŌ na LOVE (Get You!)

Kimi to dake (Jump!) Yes! Happy PARUSU (Syun! Syun!)

Kakumei SUTAARAITO, MAJI de suki da yo (Yes, We Love You)

Eien ni…

Zenryoku zenkai de, nisen PAA kimi no koto wo Love You!

Ba, Bang! Ja, Jan!! Love You!”

The song ended to the biggest burst of applause that Marth had ever heard. He felt as if he’d been transported to a place where everyone’s hearts had been ed in sheer joy. Glancing at his friends, who also stood sweaty and heaving for breath, he couldn’t help but grin at the immense happiness showing on their faces. ‘I probably have the same look on my own face.’

‘Well, whatever happens, I can be happy knowing that we gave it our all.’

He looked over to the wings, where Kiran smiled with tears of joy. Even Laegjarn and Loki from FiREZ appeared touched by their performance. Poor little Laevatein only seemed confused as to what she was feeling.

After several minutes, during which the two groups waited in the wings, the announcer invited them back onstage. “The judges have come to a decision!”

Marth’s heart raced, and he glanced at his teammates, who looked at each other, then took each other’s hands.

“And the winner of this year’s UtaPri Award is…”

Both groups waited, the tension clouding in the air, for the moment when their fates would be decided.

‘It’s now or never.’

“HEROES!”

The young men gasped in shock, then jumped and shouted for joy. They had made it! They could stay together and keep Kiran!

“According to the agreement made by Mr. Askr and Mr. Múspell, this means that FiREZ will have to disband!”

The of HEROES glanced at each other in horror. Their opponents had fought fairly! But Mr. Múspell didn’t seem to think so. “Very well then. As of now, FiREZ is disbanded. Múspell Studios cannot afford to have the weak bogging it down.”

“No, wait!” Marth spoke up. “This isn’t right at all! Just because they lost the competition doesn’t mean that they aren’t any good!”

“He’s right,” Ike added. “Think of all the fans that FiREZ amassed. If they weren’t good enough, do you think these people would’ve come out to see them in the first place?”

“They set the bar high. We were hard-pressed to beat them,” Chrom agreed.

Robin nodded. “Besides, they had the advantage of being in this business for longer than we have.”

Alphonse jumped in. “They have flawless technique and skill honed by years of experience that we don’t yet have.”

“Besides! I thought that maybe it would be really cool someday if we could collaborate! We’d make such amazing songs!” Cory interjected.

“And we can’t do that if they’re not a group anymore,” argued Roy. “So, please! Don’t break them up!”

All three of the FiREZ women gave them stunned looks.

“Is… Is that… what you really want?” Laegjarn asked. “You beat us, you have every right not to let us stay together…”

“Were you darlings really so touched by our inferior performance?” Loki wondered.

“But we lost. So we have to break up. Father said.” Laevatein frowned.

“Well, there is one thing given to each winner of the UtaPri Award,” Mr. Askr announced as he strode onstage. “Each winning group gets one wish, to use however they so choose.” He eyed HEROES. “Is that what you desire for your wish? For FiREZ to remain together?”

“Yes!” the seven men chorused.

Mr. Askr nodded. “Very well. Consider it done. FiREZ, you will not have to disband.” He gave them a smile. “We expect you to use this experience to grow and get better.”

“Th-This is—!” Laegjarn bowed, and her teammates followed suit. “Thank you so much, Mr. Askr! We owe you and HEROES so much!”

The announcer could only gaze at the scene in wonder. “What an unexpected and incredible development! FiREZ owes HEROES their continued existence thanks to HEROES’ benevolence! An amazing group indeed! They really have earned the UtaPri Award!”

Marth could only grin. “Hey, guys, how about one more number? I know we just performed our hearts out, but…”

“Yeah, I’m ready for another round.” Ike smirked. Roy pumped his fist in the air as the other men grinned.

“Me too! I’m overflowing with energy! Let’s give them all we got!”

And so they performed again, giving all their heart and soul.
