PSA: Categories

Today I want to talk about what I think is one of the great features of the Amino app:

the categories.

The categories can be found in the side bar, and they look like this:

We have A LOT of categories here in Studying Amino. These are here to help sort your posts into relevant topics, so that they are easy to find for people looking for a specific topic. If you’re interested in blog posts about mathematics, there’s a category for that. Bullet journals? There’s a category for that. Categories makes it easier to navigate the abundant resources we as have created together.

When you make a blog post, it’s very easy to sort your post into the right category before posting it, by clicking on the “Categories” button in the bottom right corner (iPhone) in the blog editor.

You may then tick all the categories you want to put your b. For this PSA blog post, for example, I will sort the bto the “Announcements” category. This category is locked, which means only staff can sort their posts in these categories. The rest are open for everyone to use.

Categories can be a great resource for everyone here at Studying Amino.

However

When posts are sorted in the wrong category (study buddy polls in the Community category, or random posts in the Challenges category), it becomes really hard for us to even use the Categories, since the content is so random. Therefore, we ask you to

please think twice before sorting your blogs into categories.

In the end, it’s up to me or another curator to clean up the Categories - that means moderating each and every post that doesn’t belong there, and remove it - so it’s ultimately creating unnecessary work for us.

After all, it’s good for the whole community if the Categories are properly sorted!( ^ω^ )
