༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ Name (What you go by on Amino) ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ My usual internet pseudonym is Helion/Heli (as a nickname), but because this particular profile of mine has this Xtale Chara & Frisk aestethic I also totally accept being called X Event or just X!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ Age ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I am 17 years old.
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ Pronoun(s) you prefer to go by? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I go by female pronouns!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What can you do for us that other candidates can't? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I believe that I am very mature and thoughtful. I do not ever react impulsively in the internet in particular because I think thoroughly before I write something. I have experience moderating on Amino (I will elaborate soon) and I know how to seem professional when I need to. I am also very ionate about Undertale and perfectly capable of being lighthearted and joking whenever it's appropriate.
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What do you know about moderating? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I am probably not the most experienced person out there, but I already moderated many chatrooms and had minor roles in mod teams in some communities in the past. Most noticeably, I am a former curator trainee in the big Undertale Amino (UTA), the one with almost a million . It was only a month, but gosh did I learn a LOT during that time. Starting with standard Amino mechanics like how to feature, how to delete messages, how to correctly flag messages, etc. and ending with almost every big struggles a mod team can have - Raids, bots, trolls, etc.
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ How do you handle working with people who annoy you? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ Assuming I am in the mod team and I just don't like the behavior, attitude, or just the general personality of someone I just simply keep my opinion to myself. I don't think private and petty drama is necessary, especially in a moderation team, so I completely avoid it. When you are in a group you naturally have your favourites and your least favourites, you will dislike someone and someone will dislike you. That is natural and I don't get angry about it. I believe that I can respect people even if something about them annoys me - Going back to the specific example of this occuring in a mod team, I don't think the mod team is a bunch of idiots because everyone in it was good enough to make it, so I respect their skills and work with the person I dislike nonetheless.
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What do you see yourself doing within the first 10 days of being a curator? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ The average duties of a curator oftentimes involve a little bit of repetitive work with common rulebreaks like lack of art credit, off-topic content, spammy content, etc. Apart from that I would watch over the largest chatrooms and make sure everything is working well, interacting with in the process. Latter point is particularly important, as I would make sure to comment, chat and overall be more active in the community to build up a good reputation!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What do you think it means to be a Curator on UT Amino? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I belive the most important characteristic is the social aspect. Not only is it one you have to be good at for this "job", but in essence it describes everything you do. Communicating with your comrades and communicating with is, in a nutshell, what you do!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ Why do you want to become a curator on UT Amino? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ It's mostly about ion for Undertale. I absolutely love this franchise and the fandom so much and I'd love to contribute, no matter how little or big! I enjoy being a because it really ties you closer to the community and gives me the oppurtunity to be more active in the fandom I love most. I did consider going back to the big UTA community and re-applying as a mod, but honestly I feel a little too pressured to be one of the few mods in such an enormously large community. Expectations are just much bigger, so I feel like I would have a much better time working in this smaller community!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What leadership skills do you have that could contribute to the community? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I enjoy (friendly and non-toxic) debates a lot, so I could contribute by discussing some rules with a few . I'm experienced and I know which rules worked and didn't work in other communities. I also enjoy interacting with of the community as a , so I could contribute by building up a good image, thus improving the whole team's image!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What is the most important part about being a leader? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ Instead of repeating myself I will say something very general - In a nutshell you can say you succeeded as a leader when people look up to you, respect you for what to do and strive to be like you in some ways. You have to be a great example and represent whatever you are representing well!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What suggestions do you have that you could possibly set forth as a curator? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ One word - Events. I love events, I love participating in them and I love making them. I'm sure they would help the community thrive, so I'd love to see more of them! Not too many if course as that can get a little tiring, but even uncomplicated, occasional events can do wonders to a community's activity, especially if we pull a smart move and make some kind of collab challenge that encourages people to invite their friends to this community!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ Describe how you would handle a situation if you were required to finish multiple tasks by the end of the week, and there was no possible way that you could finish them. ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ Simple - I would communicate with the team. I would tell them my situation and discuss a solution. Either I would ask for more time or for someone to help me with at least one of the tasks, etc. Not communicating is a big mistake here - If a team won't pay attention to your struggles and would force you to finish tasks you can't finish it is not a great team and not worth your time, so there really is nothing to be afraid of when asking for help!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ A is posting Sexual images all over the Chats section. No leaders are on. Be Descriptive. ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ First I would make sure the gets kicked from every chat they stir up trouble in and obviously delete the awful images to avoid as many people as possible from being affected. During that process I would tell the to stop and if they don't listen, well, repeated offenses only worsen the punishment. I won't waste too much time on that because that person is rather likely to be a troll and I don't want them to feel amused at all. I would try to mobilise as many curators as possible and repeatedly message ALL leaders, hoping someone comes online to ban that person. Until then I make sure I have as many people as possible help me minimise the damage. I would flag their messages for off-topic, so that leaders have absolute proof of the act (If that's not necessary by this team's standard I won't waste my time with that and just take screenshots) + I would report them to Team Amino. Yes, they are not very known for taking action ever, but even the slightest hope of such a disgusting person getting banned from this whole app is honestly worth it.
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What timezone do you live in? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ My timezone is CET!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What times are you free? Make a schedule for the week including times you know that you will be active. ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ I unfortunately have a very inconsistent school schedule, which messes up my schedule overall. I am still able to come online for 15 minutes at least every 1,5 hours to take care of something quick. The usual time when I go to sleep is 11pm, which obviously changes a lot, but generally, this is when I am online:
Monday: 1:15pm-2pm + 5:15pm-11pm
Tuesday: 6am-10am + 3pm-11pm
Wednesday: 1:15pm-11pm
Thursday: 1:15pm-2pm + 5:15pm-11pm
Friday: 11:30am-11pm
Weekend: Usually the whole day, from whenever I wake up to whenever I go to sleep! Sometimes things like visiting friends/family prevents me from being on much, but generally speaking I have mostly time on weekends.
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What are your usual tasks? Would they sometimes interfere with your shift here on UT? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ Homework, studying and occasional projects for school are my usual tasks, which can be time-consuming, but luckily I don't have set times to do those. I usually still keep my phone close when taking care of school tasks, so if something happens I can always come online for however long I'm needed and do the school tasks later, as long as I finish them eventually. School will get in the way of moderating whenever a huge exam comes up, but generally speaking I believe it shouldn't interfere too much!
༄ؘ ۪۪۫۫ ▹ What is your reasoning behind being a curator? ◃ ۪۪۫۫ ༄ؘ
☆ This question could mean multiple things and I do apologise if I do not answer the "intended" way (I wonder if someone sneaky asked this so vaguely on purpose, heh), but to me the reasoning behind being a curator is two things- One, you are a help to the more experienced leaders, the ones that are in charge and have the power over important parts of the community that curators don't. You are a helping with the many tasks moderating a community provides one with and at the same time makes you more experienced with moderating. Which brings me to the second point - In a way curatorship is a necessary step to become a leader. A leader can't be someone you just pulled from the feed because their application looked fancy, but someone who is experienced with the specific community they have to moderate.
What are some key components to problem solving? Or handling a hard situation?
☆ I already mentioned it earlier, but it's spontanity. You need to be able to fit to sudden situations quick and spontaneously response as well as you can, even if you have no idea you need to wiggle yourself out of that hassle elegantly, so that feel like you are reliable! Another important aspect is STILL being social and talking to people. Never be too ashamed to ask for help when you need it, sometimes you just can't resolve things on your own.
Will you give us a heads up when you can't be online for a day or more?
☆ Whenever I feel it's necessary, yes. When I'm hanging out with a friend all day, but I feel like when something comes up I can reasonably reply within half an hour I will not inform you because I believe that would happen too often and would just be annoying. When on the other hand I go on a trip all day and I am absolutely unable to come online most of the day I will 100% inform you guys.
What are some of your good traits? Bad?
☆ I believe my (relevant for this context) strong traits are critical thinking, calmness, confidence, artistic ion for Undertale and my improvised decision making skills. My bad traits are that I can be too stubborn, sometimes I hyperfixate on one thing and get distracted easily when trying to do something else and that I sometimes end up overworking myself with multiple projects that I would all love to do at the same time, but physically can't.
Do you have a habit of getting angry, lazy, shy, or happy? What's one of your habits?
☆ I honestly don't have any big emotional habits - Of course I'm not constantly neutral because I'm human, though most isn't worth mentioning, I feel. One semi-habit I have is being all goofy and funky around people I'm comfortable with, joking around and all these kinds of things whenever it's appropriate to be lighthearted, of course. I do not have any emotional "outrages" in the internet simply because I think before I write - In real life self-control is much harder, but in the internet the barrier of having to write and then send things while no one sees me and can tell what emotions I'm feelings usually prevents me from showing signs of anger, fear, etc. I am also very confident in the internet, so I don't think I appear shy, except if I want to for comedic effect and about getting lazy... Well, As everyone motivation can be finicky, but especially when it's about Undertale I'm usually very motivated - Combined with a certain sense of duty I believe I have I don't think I will generally be lazy.
If a member is in conflict with another, and the conflict is spreading through the Community, what do you do?
☆ It highly depends on the situation, whether misinformation is involved, how grave accusations are, etc. If the matter has a big impact on the community I would not prefer acting on my own, but discuss the matter with at least one or two other mods. If misinformation is spreaded I would absolutely make a post debunking it - though stay neutral and never choose a side. I would also talk to both , listen to both sides to be well informed to make competent decisions and maybe maybe a private chat with everyone involved in case the issue needs to be talked out. Once the issue is resolved but some keep talking about it I would make a simple post saying the issue was resolved privately and that there is no need to worry about it any further.
How do you handle Trolls?
☆ If they do "harmless" trolling that does not break any rules and is just mildly annoying I completely ignore them and fully encourage doing so, not giving them the attention they are trying to get in the process. The moment they break a rule I just punish them. I handle them in a very dry and serious manner, so that they would not end up getting any "fun" out of what they are doing to discourage them from trolling in the future.
What are three key traits to being a ?
☆ 1. Knowing how to handle any kind of situation. You have to do well spontaneously and stay professional - Even if you have no idea what to do you need to react well in order for the to feel like you and the mod team is competent and reliable. Instead of saying "Holy shit I have no idea what to do in this situation" (Which can happen - People can't know absolutely everything and sometimes need help, even s) you should say "I will discuss this matter with the mod team". To sum it up, you need some quick thinking while not being impulsive. Keyword: Improvising.
2. You NEED to be good at communication. Even though writing has a certain tone to it (that you also need to be able to control) you have to make sure that what you are saying is clear and unmistakeable when taking care of serious manners or dealing with someone who is angry at or unhappy with you. That sadly happens very often, as people tend to put all the blame on "the mods", which is merely another reason to be able to be good at communicating. There are many other reasons why communication is important, like when discussing new rules/changes with your team, when trying to build a good reputation, etc., but I think I brought my point across in previous points already, so how about I won't stretch this point too much-
3. It's also very important to keep your emotions in check, even when not handling an important manner. You should stay rational and try not to display anger or any other kinds of negative reactions to other - These "oubursts" will not paint a great picture of you and make the feel as if you and by extension the mod team is not reliable nor professional, which could lead to them not taking us serious, at which point we fail as "leaders". Just know when you can show certain emotions, how you should show them (tone tags like /j or /sarc are live savers) and when it's better to be dry and professional.
Responsibility and reliability are two very important traits that I didn't mention because they are, in a way, in all three of these points. Though just to clarify - Yes, they are extremely important and a part of literally everything you do.
Additional Comments
Oh boiii, becoming a part of this community's mod team would be a dream come true! This is not the Undertale community (I swear, I'm in ALL of them) I'm most active in, but this will easily change the second I get this responsibility, you can take my word for it. I would be extremely grateful for a chance.
