I mentioned in one of my previous posts that I would soon be making a big post about polymer clay tips and tricks that I use. Today I'll be sharing them with you! :) I've been using polymer clay for about five years now and I've gathered lots of useful knowledge over the years. I hope what I know can benefit people, whether your just starting out with this medium or are just looking for some new tips! :smile: Please click the photos for the full description. (I would have elaborated more in the descriptions of the photos but there's a character limit :confused: )

If your clay is too hard, condition it with a drop of vegetable/canola oil. If it's too soft, freeze it or mix it with a harder clay.

Vegetable/canola oil can also be useful when making icing! TLS (Translucent Liquid Sculpey) is expensive for a smaller quantity of the product.

Bend the end of you're eye pin to keep it secure in your charm! I also recommend adding a drop of glue to the eye pins after it's baked.

Speaking of glues, I would HIGHLY recommend using EuroTool brand super glue.

Some excellent tools for texturing are toothbrushes and balled up pieces of tin foil.

Ombré effect: roll two thin cones of equal amounts of clay and cuts equal pieces as shown above. Then mix!

Now onto my preferences! In my opinion translucent and pearl clay is essential! I use these clays in most of my pieces! (Use last mixing tip for best results)

Another preference of mine is glow in the dark polymer clay. Although I don't often use it as a base colour, it is fantastic to use for small detail and accents

I actually use Carmex to condition my clay but I heard Vaseline works too! Awesome tips!!!
