This river, flowing through both realms, was the link through which Irena’s vessel was birthed, making her a Keeper of the Dream Realm. For centuries, she honed her abilities, aiding in the weaving of dreams and guiding their manifestations, all the while learning the intricate practices of arcane magic. The Keepers an elven species, created by Lady Istus herself, were entrusted with maintaining the balance within the Dream Realm, ensuring that its purpose remained aligned with the sacred order of existence.
However, this harmony was not to last. A prophecy foretold the rise of a greedy king whose corruption threatened to engulf both the Dream and physical realms. The Keepers, including Irena, attempted to influence the king’s dreams toward a path of righteousness, but his heart was already consumed by darkness. Rejected by his stubbornness, the Keepers’ efforts only deepened his descent into madness. With destructive sorcery, the mad king crossed the boundary between realms, invading the Dream Realm with violence. In his vengeful rage, he slaughtered nearly all the Keepers, over looking young Irena young, inexperienced, and barely understanding the vast responsibilities of her role.
In what she thought was her final moments, the realm around her fell apart, the Mother of the Dream Realm, Lady Istus, appeared to Irena. With wisdom, she guided her daughter to the darkest, most nightmarish depths of the Dream Realm, a place where an inexperienced Keeper should never venture to. This was a realm of chaos, a place untouched by the balance that had been the foundation of the Dream Realm. Istus knew that the mad king, driven by his own fear and delusions, would be consumed by the horrors within. Irena was bait for the king. She also knew that Irena would become tainted by the realm’s chaotic energy, a fate that would leave a mark on her spirit forever. However, the decision was made knowing that Irena would become an even stronger protector for the realm.
Irena emerged from the nightmare transformed. The chaotic essence of the realm seeped into her, and in the process, she became the very thing she feared an embodiment of chaos. While Istus had wisdom won against the king, she was never seen again. Her disappearance left the weight of the Dream Realm’s balance in Irena’s hands.
Irena, though not a demi-goddess like her mother, held enough power and more to continue Istus’ work. Her mother’s final lesson, one of the the three truths of balance, still echoed in her mind: “For the Eternal Circle to turn, all things must exist in Balance. There is a place for everything naturally somewhere in the world. Death exists because it must, and winter comes because it is part of the cycle. Nature is wild and dangerous, and the predator is just as much a part of the world as the prey.”
Despite the taint within her, Irena’s duty remained the same: to maintain the balance of the Dream Realm and the natural world, even as she grappled with the chaotic forces within her own being. The mad king’s fate, now intertwined with hers, would rest on her ability to rise above her own darkness and restore the harmony that Istus had once fought to preserve.

This ability is deeply tied to her role as a silent sentinel of the dream realm, enabling her to tap into the minds of both the ordinary and the extraordinary, even those with powerful mana detection. Keepers like Irena employ protective talismans when entering minds, ensuring their presence remains undetectable as they navigate and alter thoughts. These talismans shield her from external detection, muffling the ripple of her mana and allowing her to act as an unseen force. By attuning to individuals while they sleep, Irena operates with precision, rewriting or concealing memories as necessary without disrupting the host’s mental balance. Her mastery over this ability ensures she can perform these acts swiftly and leave no trace, even against the defenses of the most formidable beings.
Whatever name you wanna call a human/serpent hybrid from the multiple limbs, regenerative abilities, her many serpents have independent ‘mini brains’ in each of their limbs, allowing their limbs to move independently from each other although they can understand what Irena wants. She could use these independent ‘mini brains’ as a sort of back up to the main brain, so when her main brain gets wiped by a reciprocating force, the ‘mini brains’ restore the memories.
