Hey everyone! I’ve been wondering what you would like me to talk about here, I already have some entries ideas, but I would like to write about stuff you are concerned of or something you want to read about (study related). Dms are open for any suggestion  Don’t be shy :grinning:

So, for the ones who don’t know, I am 20 years old and just graduated last month as a fashion designer, I now have a senior university technician degree in fashion design, and studied it in my country (Venezuela).

It’s funny to look back and see how I changed my “what do I want to study” decision unexpectedly… As first, I wanted to study medicine to be a pediatrician and now I’m a fashion designer; this happened because I was involved in a tough situation and decided to study what I really love. I don’t regret it at all, I learned so many things and I keep learning every day. Must say I’m doing a lot better comparing my sketches when I was studying and the ones I do now hahahah.

The experience was good tho, I made the most awesome friends and I love them tons!! I learned about history, art, business, collections, how to sew, how to draw and my blood sweat and tears (yes, bts reference here heheh) were the highlight of my process. Going to the uni was hard for me because my country has many many MANY issues and of course, involves the transportation…. So I had a really hard time going to class and returning home. The content of the classes was basic but helpful, I had the opportunity to receive classes from the bests teachers there!!! (Unfortunately, they left the country this year ☹) but I’m really happy I got many classes from them.

Must say, Fashion is not just dres pretty and draw collections, it has the exact same privilege and arduous work as medicine, engineering, architecture, etc. You must be prepared correctly and know what you are doing, it is a really tough process deg a collection, involves a lot of investigation and tests and TIME! And being a fashion designer doesn’t mean I will only sew and create collections, there are many specialties you can choose from. Me, in particular, want to be a stylist and also study marketing and creative writing.

Unfortunately, I can’t do masters or post grade studies here (because there are none). I’m currently seeking the chance to keep studying overseas.

To summarize everything, my experience was really good but the study program is really basic and is better if you keep specializing either doing courses or a master in certain areas. As a designer, I learn something new every day! And that’s what I love the most about my career… you never will be able to know everything because there is something new and changes every day.

If you’re thinking about pursuing a design career, just do it! There are a lot of options and it’s a beautiful career, you won’t regret it  .

I hope you got to know me a little bit more with this post and I’m really happy to share this experience with you!!. Leave in the comments if you’re thinking about picking a design career or are already involved in one? Also, if you’ve got any question about this I’m here to answer  Have a nice week.

I go to an art school and the only thing available there is two year diplomas in the studios you choose, I’ve chosen to do textile design as my diploma, but after I want to go to my local university to get my teaching degree, well, I’m thinking about it.

I’m unsure what art career path to take since I’m torn between taking a design career and maybe becoming a fashion designer or going to art school and becoming a fine artist. At the moment I’m taking a Textiles course - it’s more like an art and design course but we still learn how to sew and use different textile medias

I see!! Well, must say you'll learn (in fashion school) how to draw and use Adobe tools, I learned a lot of graphic design there too, and also many new techniques when it comes to drawing. You can take an advance course in drawing or any other specialty you would like to have more knowledge of. Gaining experience is key :muscle: 🏼// wish you the best of lucks :raised_hands: 🏼 :sparkles: :sparkles:
