Chilling Legends: Tenome

HEY! A LEGEND ABOUT A MALE GHOST THIS TIME! YAY!!!!!! :tada: :tada: :tada: fair warning tho.....this gets a bit creepy.

Fun fact: this tale inspired the pale man in “Pan's Labyrinth.”

There was once an old blind man walking the streets. Robbers attacked the man, beating him viciously and leaving him to die in a field. As he lay dying, he cried out “If only I had seen their faces! But my eyes can’t see! If only I had eyes on the palms of my hands!”

Due to the nature of his death, he came back as the ghost named Tenome. No more was he blind, as eyes had appeared on the palm of his hands.

He now roams the cities looking for those who killed him. There’s one problem: he never saw their faces. So he just tends to kill whomever he comes in with.

Though he has eyes on his hands, Tenome is still blind with anger.

(Tenome means “eyes on hands”)

To test his courage, a boy was dared by his fiends to walk a graveyard one night. Not backing down, the boy waltzed in. During his stroll a saw an old man appear from the stones. As the man drew closer he realized he had eyes on his hands. Stricken with fear, the boy ran.

He came to the church and begged the priest to help him. The priest told him to hide in the chest, then went to hide himself. The boy did as he was told and crawls inside. Tenome entered. To avoid being heard, the boy held his breath. The footsteps came closer and closer to the chest. Soon the boy her a slurping sound next to his hiding place.

In the morning, the priest came out of hiding and went to look for the boy. He opened the chest only to find a horrific sight. Tenome had sucked all the blood and bones from the boy. Leaving behind his limp, saggy skin.
