Back in school Marinette quickly made her way to her locker. Even though Chloe had tried her best to keep the nickname spaghetti girl lasting, it has started to be used less and less. So far she had heard one person talk about the event. Maybe this year was a new beginning after all?

Collecting the textbooks she needed, she made her way to English and sat next to Alya.

"Hey girl, how was the rest of your Christmas holiday?"

"Nothing amazing, we stayed in for most of the days because of the weather."

"It may sound weird but I'm glad to be back. I've missed having you around almost every day." Alya wrapped her in a side hug as the english teacher walked in and started the lesson.

They all met up with each other at break. As per usual Alya and Nino were cuddling up to each other, leaving Marinette sat third wheeling. Adrien hadn't turned up yet and she was starting to wonder where he was. She quickly thought of an excuse to get away.

"I need to go see someone, I'll be back." The bluenette pushed herself up and exited the canteen, desperate to escape from her friends acting all lovey dovey to each other.

She ended up stopping at her locker and started tidying it. There were sheets of paper, random books and post it notes spread out everywhere.

"First new years resolution, try and stay tidy." She said to herself. She dumped most of the paper into a nearby bin and stated stacking the books neatly into a pile.

"Second new years resolution, buy a footstool so you don't have to go on your tiptoes to reach everything." Marinette suddenly turned around as she was met with Adrien standing directly in front of her.

"New years resolution for you, don't creep up on people like that! Also, I am not that small!" She crossed her arms, a hint of a smile across her face. In response Adrien grabbed a book and held it in the air. Marinette tried to reach it but couldn't. She ended up having to jump.

"See, you are small Bugaboo." He ed her back the book and helped put the remaining books neatly inside.

"Stop calling me Bugaboo! I thought you said you'd drop it."

"It suits you. Links you back to your spirit animal." He rested an arm against the row of lockers as Marinette blushed. She thought back to the day they'd spent together during the holidays. A warmness spread through her at the memory.

"Thanks again for that plush. And I know you said you didn't want anything in return but..." Marinette reached into her bag and pulled out an object wrapped in green tissue paper.

"Mari you really didn't-"

"No I really did. I made it myself too so I didn't spend that much money. Please just take it as a thank you." She pushed it into his hands as he reluctantly took it. Tearing away the paper a black t-shirt unravelled. He opened it up fully to read what had been put on it.

"I'm the cat's meow." He grinned at Marinette before folding it up neatly. "You're extremely talented, you know that right?"

"Yeah I know. Kitty." She closed her locker. Since he was still calling her Bugaboo why not keep her nickname going? "So since I have a new years resolution-"

"Two actually, you're forgetting about that stool." Marinette pushed his shoulder slightly.

"Ok! Since I have two resolutions, I'm wondering what yours are?"

"I don't have any." Adrien shrugged which caused Marinette to tap her foot.

"What do you mean you don't have any! Everyone has to have at least one!" Marinette thought for a moment before smiling. "Ok yours can be to eat more healthier."

"I already eat healthy."

"Do not. At school it's always fast food and when we hang around with the others it's always junk food. Add some fruit and veg to your diet! Here, I'll start you off." She pulled an apple out of her bag and threw it at him. Due to his fast reflexes he easily caught it and played with it in his hands.

"Do you always keep an apple in your bag?"

"Yeah, you never know when your hot friend will say they don't have a new years resolution so you have to create one and give them somewhere to start."

"Did you just say hot friend?" Adrien chuckled as Marinette stared at her locker.

"N- no I definitely didn't say that, y- you must've misheard." She stammered over her words as a blush spread across her face.

"You think I'm hot?" Adrien leaned forward as Marinette turned to face him; their faces mere inches away. Marinette could feel her heart beating rapidly in her chest. She sucked in a breath before replying.

"W-well." She stopped speaking as they stared at each other. Adrien took a quick glance at her lips before backing away.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." He rubbed the back of his neck before smiling. "I'll see you around." And with that he waved a small goodbye before walking down the hallway. Marinette sighed. Her heart was confused.

She turned around and immediately bumped into Luka.

"Luka, hey. How are you?" Luka looked down at the girl and smiled warmly.

"Hey Marinette, I'm good. How was your vacation?"

"Perfect, sorry I should get going." She went to leave but Luka grabbed her arm.

"Wait, I was wondering whether you wanted to go out some time? I enjoyed our last trip to the cinema." Marinette bit her lip. Juleka had mentioned how it's possible that he likes her but what about Adrien?"

"I would love to Luka but I'm a bit busy at the moment. Maybe some other time?" Luka brushed his thumb across her wrist and smiled.

"Yeah, another time." As the bell rang to signal the end of break Luka kissed her hand lightly. "Let me know when. I'll see you when we next have english together." He dropped her hand back down to her side before walking in the opposite direction.

Well this year was going to be interesting to say the least...

How am I still keeping up to date with this? I'll tell you how- I have no social life outside of school so I will literally write for hours on end (I really need to get out more :sweat_smile: ). Anyway see you tomorrow byeeee :wave:
