Ever think about how much a text can change a life? How much a phone call can impact a life more than you realise? How much a simple sentence for that matter can have horrible consequences.

Night-time is usually seen as dark, mysterious for that matter. And with darkness comes sadness and with sadness comes pain...

Marinette ran out of her bakery, tears streaming down her face. Why had she told Adrien she liked him? More importantly, why did she tell him over the phone instead of in person. It hurt more somehow. She couldn't see his reaction, only hear his plain unforgiving voice. His words rang loudly her head.

"I like someone else, I only see you as a friend."

Just a friend...

Why didn't she see it coming? As if a rich and famous supermodel would fall for a boring normal girl like her. A girl who trips on air. A girl that can't even make a sentence in front of him. A girl who is a total clutz. How could anyone like her for that matter?

The cold night air stung her face as she refused to slow down. She ran further and further away from the comfort of her home, no destination in mind. She let the tears flow; no point wiping them away as more would replace them. Her eyes were an endless waterfall, constantly flowing away the pain she was feeling.

Just a friend...

Eventually she stopped a few blocks away from her house to catch her breath; panting whilst wiping the remaining tears on her jacket sleeves. She lowered herself to the floor as she put her head on her knees, she didn't want anyone seeing her like this. She was normally this bubbly selfless girl. Not today I guess.

The pain was just too much for her to handle. The amount of time she had spent dreaming about this moment yet it turned out the total opposite to what she wanted. She sat like that for a few minutes, letting the cold through her, before hearing a familiar voice.

"Mari? What are you doing out on your own at this time of night?"

She reluctantly looked to see who the voice belonged to and smiled lightly, tears streaming down her face."I told him... I told him that I liked him..."

"What did he say?" The boy pulled out a tissue from his pocket and ed it to her. She took it from him and crumpled it up in her hand after using it. She rammed it into her tro pocket before shaking her head.

"What do you think?" She laughed bitterly as the boy sat down next to her. She played with her pigtails whilst looking at the floor.

"I'm sorry."

"Why? It's not your fault Luka." She looked up to see him staring into the distance.

"I'm apologising on his behalf, I don't understand why he'd say no to such an amazing girl."

"You're clearly saying that to make me feel better."

"Well it's working isn't it?" He stared into her bluebell eyes, causing Marinette's stomach to flip slightly. "Come here."

Luka stretched out his arms as she accepted his embrace. He felt warm, for some reason just being around the guitarist was making her feel better. He rocked her forwards and backwards as he hummed quietly into her ear.

In the corner of her eye she noticed a clocktower standing proud in the city, displaying the time. She bit her lip. She didn't want to break the hug but she knew her parents would be stressing if she wasn't back soon.

"I better get back home before my parents get worried." Marinette stood up and dusted herself off.

"Let me walk you back." Luka wrapped an arms round her and they both headed to her bakery. During the walk they were both silent, just enjoying each other's presence. Marinette appreciated the company. Her night had gone from awful to better thanks to Luka.

Maybe things worked out for the better. The more she was with Luka, the more she realised that maybe what she felt for Adrien wasn't love. She didn't know exactly what she felt for Adrien anymore but with Luka? Something was sparking. Something she definitely didn't see happening at the start of the day.

After 5 minutes of walking side by side Marinette stood outside her bakery. She stared at her balcony. The place where her unhappiness started.

Luka noticed a shift in mood so squeezed her hand as a reassuring gesture.

"Things will get better, I promise you." Mari looked down at their entwined hands and smiled.

"I hope so." She squeezed back, causing Luka to blush slightly. She looked back at the bakery and sighed. "I best get inside, goodnight Luka and thanks for tonight. I feel a lot better thanks to you."

"Goodnight Mari." He released her hand as she walked through the door, setting off the bell on top of it. Once he was sure the doors were closed he smiled at the bakery and blew a kiss in her direction.

"I think I'm in love..."
