welcome to my blog! i know it's long, but i hope many students can read this and understand this, and share it so others can read it (not for my personal gain)

i've never seen anyone on this amino address this, and it is affecting many students' mental health, and i feel like it has a negative impact on a student's education and performance in class.
basically, when you compare yourself to someone else, or if you are compared to someone else, you are looking at someone else's performance and referring it to yours in a negative way.
for example, let's say that someone got 95% in a subject that they aren't even taking, but you are, and you are very ionate about it, and you got 85%. you ignore that 85% is a very good grade and think "oh i wish that i had got that much" and "i wish i was that smart" which may not sound like much, but is the start of something bad.
i, personally am trying to reduce how much i compare myself to other people at school but it's so hard because of how competitive everyone in my school is :disappointed:
if you have any tips on only focusing on yourself or not comparing yourself to others, please comment them, not only for me but for lots of others. thank you :hearts:

it's bad because it ruins some students' self esteem, because they believe that they can't do that well at school, COMPARED to others. this will not only be a bad influence, but will demotivate (if that's a word) students, and stop them from reviewing and revising, because the don't think it would matter, because they aren't smart enough.
but they obviously are, and if they quote unquote 'aren't' then they can IMPROVE, especially on SA where everyone is here to help, i promise you

it's almost impossible to stop comparing yourself, which is a real bummer, but it's always good to know that you can reduce, because it's better than nothing!
1. you can talk to close friends, family or some people on SA, like me or many others
2. f o c u s o n y o u r s e l f a n d o n l y y o u r s e l f . i cant express that enough, to both myself and my friends.
3. stay motivated. it's a normal human trait to not be motivated, but if you aren't motivated because you don't think the studying will benefit you, then that's you deciding that revision and learning isn't worth it. don't forget that you only get education once, you only live once, you only get this opportunity to shine once, so make the most of it
4. don't let it get to your mental health. a students mental health is vital for learning and reviewing, and depression makes a student think that they aren't worth it. when they are. and there's lots of people who care about them.
5. believe in yourself. you can do anything if you put your mind to it!

I actually need this soooo much. Thank you so much for your post :hearts:
you're welcome :hearts:
I feel like all my friends are better than me. My best friend gets the best grades and she's super smart. My other friends are also very clever and though all of them claim to not study a lot, they do better than me most of the time. I guess they're just faster because they're smarter. Or I feel bad because they are very active and like to socialize a lot whereas I tended to avoid new people. And my friends have always been more sporty than I am. Compared to them I feel as if I'm always in a slump and extremely lazy, oh and WEIRD
that's exactly how i feel :hearts:
we can get through this together :hearts:
You do not know how much this means to others, thank you so much for talking about this.
you're welcome :innocent:
