Friday’s Riding Lesson!

Hello hello! Welcome back to another post! Today I had a riding lesson and I wanted to share it all with you! So, let’s go!

So, I actually brought Flick to my lesson, and my sister brought Sissy. It was pretty cool that we got to ride our own horses, because not only does it give them exercise, but we get to know our horses a little better too! When we got there, I lunged Flick in the round pen for a few minutes before I groomed her and tacked up. I got to use my new saddle today too and it was awesome!

Once I got on, I could tell that Flicka was eager to go. Just getting her to walk without speeding up was a challenge, but after a couple minutes she settled down and I managed to get a nice forward walk instead.

When I moved her into a trot, she was very excited and fast. She did break into a lope a few times, when I slowed my posting down and kept my hands more quiet she settled down to a nice trot that was a lot easier to manage.

After a few laps of walking and trotting, I loped Flick. Flick has a problem with loping with her butt sideways, so the main thing I was focusing on was getting her to ride straight. Things were a little rough at first, but it did get better.

In the last video Flick tripped, and then she got mad that she tripped and did a little hop thing.

When my lesson was done, my instructor asked me if my friend Fio or Keira could ride Flicka. Since I know her well and know that she can ride, I agreed. Flicka and Keira did awesome together and had a really good ride!
