The past four days with the pons!

This is a post about Joker, Bella and Flicka. Bella and Flicka are my horses and Joker is our friends horse. Read This post for some background information about what's going on.

So Bella and Joker both arrived safely to our place. They were very well behaved in the float. They got here at the middle of the day (I was at school :unamused: ) So that afternoon my trainer came out and rode Joker. So did my Mum and I.

Day one: So joker came with a half breed saddle and a smol western saddle. The first day we put the half breed saddle on Joker with a black saddle pad and western bridle (which had very short reins, so now it has split reins) and Bella's normal English saddle, with her blue saddle pad and normal bridle.

Also my outfit was on fleek :smirk:

We just did walking with Joker to work out his buttons as he is very well educated. While ma and Bella walked, trotted, did a tiny bit of canter and went over some x-rails.

So I'm just gonna say this, I don't like the half breed saddle. It is stiff and the fenders (the western version of stirrup leathers) are a bit too long. So I try to use the other western saddle on him, cuz I love that saddle :heart_eyes:

Day two: So day two, we rode them both again. But this time we tried to put an English saddle on Joker and a western saddle on Bella. The western saddle fit Bella really well but we had to find another girth for joker, but when we did... it broke :unamused: so we both went western! :joy: and oml Bella is too cute in western gear!

Bella was an angel, but when cantering she was just rushing into it, but we will work on that. We did lots of long and low work. Here's a great post about working long and low correctly!

So then I rode Joker for a few minutes. His canter... :heart_eyes: it's to die for!!

Day three: My friend 'Gertrude' came over (not real name, so may as well have fun :joy: ) She is a completed and utter beginner so I put her on Bella, we may be giving her lessons in the future. So I put 'Gertrude' on Bella in her English saddle and I rode Joker in the western saddle which I was very happy about. 'Gertrude' just walked around on Bell while I walked, trotted and cantered Joker a bit. We eventually got Bella to follow Joker at a trot so that 'Gertrude' could have a small trot.

So yesterday I went out and did a bit of groundwork with Bella, trotting poles, small jumps ect. But then I thought "Well I have been wanting to see how high Bella could jump for a while now, why not habe at now?" So I put up a jump, starting small at like 50cm. Then put another jump about Bella's chest height next to that jump to encourage her not to run out. And she nailed it! She was awesome! I didn't get any photos cause I didn't have my phone on me, I really wish I had tho!

In the end she got up to about 75cm which I was so proud of! She could have gone higher but I decided that that was enough for one day. Then she got lots of pats, cuddles and treats!
