“If you judge a book by its cover, you might miss an amazing story”

I’m doing the #DontJudge challenge this time. The challenge sounded interesting, and since I’m the most judgmental person on earth, I thought why not? I had the longest list of choices, but I picked a few.

Jang Na-ra is a South Korean singer and actress, and she can also sing in Chinese. She began her career as a child actress when she appeared in Les Miserables alongside her father. She was also an ment model, and then went into a singing career before her acting career became successful. She appeared in several television dramas and movies.

I did not like looking at her in dramas, especially as a main character. I did find her a little bit lacking. I did not enjoy her acting, most of the characters she picked turned out to be pitiful, sometimes whiny, and in the end they always cried a lot. And there’s nothing I hate more than a weak main character, and I always felt like I was watching the same thing over and over again and I always ended up dropping any drama I saw her in before even watching it, I’d see her face and I would instantly be annoyed.

Like I said, I did not like seeing her in general and my prejudice could have hindered the fact that she is actually an amazing actress. I recently just saw her in ‘The Last Empress’ and I have to say that I was impressed by what I saw, and her acting has improved a lot.

Kwon Sang-Woo is a South Korean actor who debuted in 2001. He started his career as a fashion model before he became successful in his acting career. He has starred in several dramas and movies.

I absolutely, without a doubt, did not like looking at him in dramas. No matter how hard I tried I could not find him attractive, and I always find it problematic when I don’t find the main male lead attractive, and soon enough I started to nitpick on everything; his acting, the way he talked, etc. The first drama I watched of his was ‘Sad Love Story’ and I have to say that I did not enjoy it; and it was absolutely painful to watch.

I have to say that I enjoy his acting, most of the characters he picks seem a little bit complex and he executes them perfectly. The dramas that really hit the spot for me were ‘Medical Top Team’ and ‘Queen of Mystery’. Seeing him as a cop was something new and it was an absolute joy to see him in action. It’s sad to say that I still don’t find him attractive, but I do love his acting now and that counts for something.

Jung So-Min is a South Korean actress who made her acting debut in 2010. She took a break from acting in 2011 to focus on her studies and returned in 2012. She starred in numerous dramas and movies.

I could not stand her character in ‘Playful Kiss’, I found her very annoying and I ended up being very disappointed with her character. That was the very first drama of her that I watched, and I did end up disappointed in several recent dramas of her that I watched. Her characters always ended up being annoying, or they didn’t have that in-depth or they could sometimes be whiny and helpless.

Her saving grace was ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ for me, I thoroughly enjoyed her acting. Her whole demeanor was different, and I knew that that was exactly what I was expecting from her because I knew she could do so much more with her acting, and that drama was a perfect choice. I totally have a new-found respect for her.

Park Shin Hye is a South Korean actress who debuted in 2001. Her breakout role was with the 2009 series “You’re Beautiful”, where she portrayed a tomboyish character who disguises herself as her twin brother to a boyband.

It was a hate at first sight with her, I don’t know what I hated about her in particular, but I just found her annoying, most especially her nasal voice. I dropped most of her dramas, because well, I couldn’t stand her. It didn’t matter who the main male lead was, as long as she was in it then I sure as hell wasn’t watching that.

Her saving grace for me is “Judge from Hell”, I absolutely love her character from the drama. Girl was killing it all the way, and I was in full fangirl mode. I have to say that she is talented, and versatile. Her acting has always been good, but I just didn’t like her voice which I’m getting used to.

Kim Go Eun is a South Korean Actress who gained early recognition for her role in the 2012 film “The Muse”.

The first drama of hers that I watched was Cheese in the Trap and I just straight up cancelled the girl. I hate hate hated her role in that drama, everything she did was so annoying and I automatically disliked everything about her. Again with finding the nasal voice annoying, I absolutely could not stand it. And then, I tried watching Goblin because of all the hype, and you won’t believe that I dropped the dram three times before I got around to finishing it. I didn’t like her, which automatically made me dislike Gong Woo.

Her saving grace, well that would be “The King: Eternal Monarch”. I’ll be honest, at first I was just watching the drama because of Woo Do Hwan. But at the end of it, I was drawn to her. The dual role she played really reflected her natural acting style and versatility. She is talented and makes some of the smartest role choices.

It was hate at first for me too when I saw Park Shin Hye lol. Nothing has convinced me otherwise. I have yet to find that one drama or movie for me to like her.

She played the role of Mi So's mother in episode 10.

I know the feeling, and I won't even try to change your mind.
