I'm aware that you're Nigerian but you're currently living in Ghana . Can you tell me a little about yourself and how life is as a kdrama addict in Ghana?
Well, actually I am half Nigerian and half Ghanaian, my mom is Nigerian and my dad is Ghanaian. I was born and raised in Nigeria but just recently started living in Ghana.
Ohhhh. That's interesting. How long have you been a kdrama addict? And how did you get into dramas?
I got into dramas late 2013 but I became a full addict last year. My first drama like most people was Boys over flowers, In my final (Senior) year of college (university) I had bumped into some hostel mates watching and the first thing that drew my attention was the language. Like most muggles I cringed and felt "nah this isn't for me" at first. I saw them again another day, they convinced me to sit in for just a few minutes, one thing led to another I went with the full drama to go start on my own laptop and I not sleeping that night  . Now Hangul is like music to my ears

Lool. Music to my ears. lol. I can relate. Now that you're a full time k drama addict :joy: , How do you watch your dramas?
Hmmm, in Ghana having the Internet is a luxury. It is freaking expensive. But thank goodness I work in a lab where I have access to free Internet. Hence I my dramas when I'm at work and take then home to watch. Yet I still spend alot of mobile data about $4 a week especially when I spend more time on KDA. Itz a pain when I think of how much I have to spend to keep in touch with my KDA pals but its totally worth it
Yesss. Me too. KDA consumes my data but im enduring it because I love my friends on KDA. Do people in your work lab know that you watch Korean dramas? How do they treat you when they find out that you watch dramas?
Oh! Very much yes cause if I'm not working the only other thing they see me doing is watching KBS world on YouTube :see_no_evil: :joy: . The first thing I do once I check into the office is open kissasian.com They really don't have any comment anymore apart from the usual smirk once in a while and the usual muggle comments like "they all look alike" and I give then the stink eye :unamused: . But I'm actually not the only one, I have a few hoobaes who also watch Kdramas. Also I think my entire neighborhood now associates me with all things Korean, cause I hear from my friends that I've become famous and they usually recommend me to people to come get dramas  #proudfan

Awww. That's good to know. It's not so bad. Lol. I was teased in my office :joy: . What about your friends and family . How do they react?
In the beginning, they were surprised about my taste. But now my mum is even a fan, she watches with me whenever I'm with her. Even my boyfriend watches Korean movie with me, a drama would be just too long but I'm sure if he has the time he wouldn't mind. The only time it gets weird for them is when they see me dancing to Kpop or singing along with the OSTs, they are like "who is this?" They still can't get used to the songs. And also sometimes when they get me yelling to my screen in korean language or see me swooning over my Oppas, then they go like "why don't you just go there and live and marry one of them", duh I would if I could (okay that's a lie I'm crazy about my real oppa  ) just would still fan girl like crazy if I see So Ji Sub or Jung Woo Sung. But most of the time Itz just me, my bed and my laptop since I'm faraway from friends and family.
Awww. So relatable. My dad calls me South Korean woman and my mom asked me once if I would marry one. And I make my boyfriend watch gag concert and listen to kpop sometimes. Im going to try to pull him into drama with Tunnel :joy: . Are Korean dramas popular in Ghana? Do they sell CDS like they sell here in Nigeria?
I don't know about CDs but they sure are popular, just as you said 10 out 25 people have Korean dramas on their laptops. I stay on a university campus so I see it get circulated around. But I'm not sure many have delved deeper into it like I have with the variety shows, kpop, KDA etc.
Okayy. Okay. But the hallyuwave is spreading. That's great

BTS cannot be the “sponsor” for tourism. Maybe you don’t know what a sponsor is or that the word means. I know EXO have been made ambassadors for tourism in South Korea. BTS hasn’t even been number 1 on iTunes in Nigeria but EXO has and was the first K-pop group to ever get to the Nigerian iTunes and to even be number 1. You put bts just beside the African continent map, and you think it’s respectful ? Goblin is also not the most popular drama here. You could have easily used boys over flowers (it’s not my favorite but it’s the most popular one ever here, at least in Nigeria) . It Seems like you are not conversant with the African continent. I don’t know about globally, but just last week, EXO had a led show on the burjkhalifa, being the first ever artist in the world to be on it. Also performing at the Olympics and having their song play on the dancing fountain. These achievements speak for themselves but I wouldn’t ask you to put EXO there, rather the flag of the country. Because you are trying to promote culture. It’s looks more like you are trying to promote your oppas and therefore, I’ll . Have a nice day.

Wow u look very angry for no reason. I am actually not a fan of BTS so keep your oppa comments for u. Second seems to me that u r the one promoting your EXO oppas which is fine doesnt matter to me. And lastly when I meant sponsor for Korea I meant that they are used for almost every ad, brands in Korea. And being in Korea myself I think I know better than u. I will then leave to your angry comments. Have a great weekend. Not need to answer I wont read it. Good day

I am not angry. You are in Korea. I’m in Africa, west Africa, Nigeria. It’s not a big deal tbh. I’m just letting you know from my point of view and correcting a wrong statement. I am not angry. It’s just that you can’t sponsor tourism in a country.
In my first reply, I didn’t mention any other group. I just said you should use the flag and they’re not the ambassadors of tourism. But you went on to talk about being the biggest globally and sponsoring tourism which isnt very valid
I mentioned boys over flowers for drama because despite it being old, almost everyone here has seen it. But it seems you didn’t see that part.
You want to bring korean acts to Africa, that’s fine but you should also know what’s going on here. And anyone who sees that form might feel that there’s a bias towards the group. I am not angry once again. I will check the form out again and share with others here. Hopefully a flag has been put up instead. Have a nice weekend too.
