At the time I left for college I was excited to leave my home, it’s not bad don’t get me wrong it’s just not a lot of freedom, not a lot of family, not a lot of opportunities. So when I left, at first it was for school. Then I meet a few like-minded people and saw the way out.

It’s not cheap

Money is what is needed for literally everything. If you have friends in places that don’t mind you crashing at their home you just saved some money. I lived off a $100 a week. Ramen Cups for every meal, buying little to nothing, and getting gas at the cheapest local stations. Taking trips with friends can also save money.

Liberating

I’m still in college, but the fact that I get to just travel and see all the different cities and the beach and talking to others about the same things I like is something I never got to do at home. I finally feel free, I feel surreal.

The Friends

Sounds crazy but I would not trade them for the world. I have gotten drunk with them, cried, laughed, even got into a fight with them i don’t know anyone who hasn’t fought with their friends. I’ve traveled so many places with them and can’t wait to continue seeing the world together.

The Memories

I’m only 20 years old, and I realized something recently, I can do whatever I want. I can find peace at the sight of something from my past and close the chapters I left folded. I won’t forget those chapters, but now I can focus on the journey I have been wanting to do. The new chapters in this book are much more memorable.

Taking the Leap

Now I understand that not everyone can just leave and do as they please, but it’s okay to have your own time and do what makes yourself happy. Take a roadtrip, plan an evening with friends, and enjoy the moments.
