Hold on a sec, I don’t agree with Zion having lazy defense as of now, as a matter of fact, he came out and talk about his defense for this season, Zion may not be 7 ft but the guy weights and has the strength of a center. However I wouldn’t put him at center. They can keep him at pf or pg.

If he puts the effort in he could be a good defender but he hasn’t shown that on a consistent scale yet.

He’s also just laterally too slow to guard any proper guards. He’s best use would be a post defender against power forwards but he’ll be way too one dimensional on the defensive side which is why the Pelicans desperately need a good defensive center.

Maybe he could become a good help defender but that’s the hardest defensive role in the league, only the best and smartest defenders can pull that off and right now he isn’t either of those.

He has a long wingspan so if he can turn into a true help defender that’s where he can provide the most value for the pelicans.
