Silverweed tea made with water or milk is an excellent remedy for diarrhea and is even (said to be) good for dysentery. As an antispasmodic, its used it can be used for relieve cramps but to use it for that its mixed with balm leaves and chamomile flowers. The tea is also useful as an external astringent for skin problems, mouth and throat sores, and similar problems.
Decoction: Boil 2 tsp of the herb in 1 cup of water or milk.
Mixed Tea: Mix equal parts Silverweed, balm leaves, and chamomile flowers. Steep 1 tsp of the mixture in 1/2 cup water. Sweeten with honey. Take 1 to 1 1/2 cups a day, a mouthful at a time.
Magick & Ritual: The five points of the leaves represent love, health, power, money, and wisdom, and if carried cinquefoil grants these. It is also hung over the main door of the home or over the bed, for protection. An infusion of the leaves is used to bathe the forehead and hands nine X’s to wash away hexes and curses. If you find a crampweed sprig with seven leaflets, place it under your pillow and you will dream of a future lover. If a bag of cinquefoil is hung above the bed, you will have restful sleep all night. When you carry the herb it gives eloquence when asking for favor of officials and it usually ensures that the favor is granted. Before rituals when taking a purification bath add this herb to enhance purification.
