I have been warned plenty of times not to dabble with ing entities via spirit boards. I certainly know that I am not an expert in the matter, nor have I ever used a spirit board because I’m afraid of what might come through. I don’t feel that I’m at a place in the evolution of my Craft where I could utilize it safely.
I know there are plenty of witchy folk who use spirit boards as a method of beyond the veil! And I know that it can be done safely should you have the necessary experience, which I find truly impressive.
I just want to know what other witchy folk think about it!🪦

A spirit board is no more dangerous than ing spirit with a tarot deck. It’s a tool. Sadly it’s a tool that Hollywood and certain faiths have demonised. There is no demon of the board, and technically unless you’re using it to demons there should be no demons involved anyway :sweat_smile:
If you’re looking to branch into using a spirit board just do what should be done anyway when communicating with spirits. Make sure you have protections set up, know how to invite spirits in (often it’s good to specify that you only wish to communicate with benign spirits and that malicious entities are not welcome in your space), know how to banish and cleanse.

I completely agree - Hollywood coming out with movies literally called “Ouija” about possession has definitely skewed the perception of spirit boards.
It’s a shame, but people want to see drama🙄
Spirit boards are like most other tools- it’s not a big stink if you use it with sense, when the situation is appropriate.
I definitely think it can be used appropriately - I just always find it interesting as to other people’s experiences
I don't use a spirit board (though I did try a ouija board once when I was a kid and nothing happened), not out of fear, it's just not something I'm particularly interested in. But I don't think spirit boards are any more dangerous than other methods of spirit communication, they've just gotten a bad reputation from horror movies and other media.
I used a ouija/spirit board as a child, and experienced some things that really scared me (and couldn't be explained or blamed on other people meddling). They do work, and they can be dangerous. They're fine to use if you are taking proper precautions, which might look different for everyone. I think the vast majority of magick is the same... Can be dangerous if not prepared correctly. Kinda like, if you're gonna call on spirits you've gotta know how to send them away with authority! That's my personal understanding at least, it's different for many people.
I use pendulum, I find it to be more trustworthy and easier to cleanse than a spirit board
