i. Choosing A Template

ii. Writing Responses/Maintaining Originality

iii. Giving Credit

iv. Creating Your Aesthetic

That really should be all,

nothing too lengthy. Now,

on to the tutorial. I hope this helps!

i. Choosing A Template

➵➵➵➵➵➵➵❂➵➵➵➵➵➵➵

The template you choose is important.

Not only is it your guide of what information

to include about the character, but it also sets

the whole aesthetic of your character (we'll get

into aesthetics later). You have to choose a

template that feels right for you. Of course,

you don't have to use a template, but lots of

people prefer to do so. In case you don't

know how to pin a template and use it,

here is a small step by step collage. I will

demonstrate using my own template:

𝙶𝚞𝚒𝚍𝚎 𝚃𝚘 : 𝙰 𝙳𝚎𝚝𝚊𝚒𝚕𝚎𝚍 𝙾𝙲-[IC]Salutations! Leaf here with my very first tutorial for you guys! Today's topic: creating a detai

Now, here are the steps in written form for those who need it:

Step One

Go to your side and select

where you see "Catalog". This should take

you to a screen that shows options: Mascot,

Staff , Official Committees, Guilds,

Prop Shops, Templates, Roleplays,

Standouts, All Curated, and All Entries. This

brings us to the next step.

Step Two

Choose the category "Templates". Once you

choose this category, there will be subfolders

inside labeled: Group Roleplays, 1×1 Roleplays,

Original Characters, and Others. This brings us

to step 3.

Step Three

Choose the folder "Original Characters".

You should then see four subfolders:

Advance Literate, Detailed, Moderate,

and Basic.

Step Four

You can really choose any template

between the Detailed and Advance

Literate folders. Though it would be

preferred to use detailed if this is your

first detailed OC and you do not plan on

writing around two paragraphs for each

response. For this example, I chose

detailed and then chose my template.

Steps 5, 6, & 7

Press on the template you want. Look

at how it is formatted and see if you really

want to use it. If you are satisfied with the

template then press the yellow pin in the

top right corner of your screen. It is now

pinned to your profile and ready to use.

Once you do that, all you need to do is

press the three dots in the very top right

corner then press the option "more" then

"create my own version".

Now you're ready to make your OC...

ii. Writing Responses/

Maintaining Originality

➵➵➵➵➵➵➵❂➵➵➵➵➵➵➵

The writing you put down for each section is very vital. In fact, it is one of the key differences between a feature worthy OC and one that gets overlooked. That is why when creating a detailed OC—if your goal is to see their faces on the feature page—you want to make sure your responses are lengthy but also not drawn out for no reason. Here are some examples of places that do need to have descriptive responses but you also need to be careful when writing in these spots:

Zodiac*

Personality*

Backstory

* With these places, it is important to make sure that you do not plagiarize information. These are key places where research is usually necessary—just be careful not to copy and paste what you find, especially if you don't plan on crediting your sources.

Zodiac

Plagiarism Example (don't):

Gemini: Gemini traits are more varied than those of other astrological signs. While most signs have one very prominent trait (for example, Capricorns are notoriously ambitious), Geminis, those born between May 21 and June 21, can be social, talkative, and whimsical, but they can also be indecisive or nosy. Some Geminis love to be the center of attention; others love to gossip. They’re typically ionate yet easy-going beings who are always down for an adventure or intellectual conversation.

If you hang out with a Gemini, only one thing’s certain: you’ll never be bored.

The Gemini personality is very fun, but, like every sign, Geminis have weaknesses. Their strengths are that they’re adaptable, outgoing, and intelligent—there's never a dull moment with a Gemini. However, their weaknesses are that they're indecisive, impulsive, unreliable, and nosy—be careful telling a Gemini your deepest darkest secrets.

so that I don't have to disable my own post for plagiarism, this was taken from this website.

Proper Example (Do):

Gemini: The Gemini is born between the days of May 21st and June 21st. They're known to be nosy, indecisive, impulsive, and talkative. Some Geminis have been said to be unreliable, however, it is not true for all Geminis (me lowkey trying to defend my own zodiac sign). Some more of their general strengths include adaptability, an outgoing mindset, and high intelligence. Some of their general weaknesses are, as mentioned before, being indecisive, nosy, unreliable, and impulsive. A Gemini is represented by the Twins which helps interpret that they can be considered "bipolar" personality-wise. One moment, they can be nice—but if you do something to change that, it is never pretty. Gemini's tend to hold grudges and can be standoffish. But, they're loyal to the end and will always have your back, and they're always up for a good time.

The difference between these two examples—the proper one rewords what is read from the source while the other is copied and pasted. The second one gets the point across the same way as the first one does, it is just that the second one doesn't BREAK THE LAW.

∴━━━✿━━━∴

Personality

Don't (plagiarism):

People with phlegmatic personality are unassuming, agreeable and intuitive. They possess the ability of “web thinking”, i.e. to see the relationship between many bits of data they collect. They have a wonderful skill to gather the facts, classify them into categories, and then see the relationship between seemingly contradicting elements. Basically, it is the ability to read between the lines. These men and women don’t do very well at memorizing separate unrelated facts, they grow bored and annoyed and to be excited by the process, they need to be able to generalize.

Again, to avoid plagiarism I took this explanation from here.

Don't (undetailed):

They are very sweet and kind. They can be funny and emotional at times. They're nice until you get on their bad side.

Not only is this uninteresting to read for most people, but it also shows very little effort for a character that is meant to be detailed.

Do: The phlegmatic personality type is known for their the ability to bit things together until they find a bigger picture. They know how to tell irrelevant information from important information and they're actually known to be very organized. The phlegmatic is also known for being very imaginative and intuitive. They can read body language better than any other temperaments and are also able to think very abstract.

As you can see (and as mentioned previously), it is possible to write just as much without plagiarizing.

Backstory

Don't (undetailed):

Penelope grew up in California. Her dad died before she was born. She has a sister named Jessica and her mother's name is Gina. When Penelope was around 7 she couldn't live with her mom anymore because she wasn't she around her. Now she lives with a man named Alex Byers and his son Tyler.

Same as personality, it shows little effort. People who read detailed character wikis want to know your character is well developed with a clear background.

Do:

*trigger warning*

When Penelope was born, her family was already close enough to falling completely apart, just barely hanging by a thread. Her mother and older sister were still mourning the recent death of her father, who died shortly after being deployed overseas. She was what was keeping her mother from ending it all herself, and from picking up nasty habits. But that only lasted u until she gave birth. When Penelope was a baby, she didn’t see much of her mother only her older sister, Jessica, who practically raised her.

One sad fact about Penelope’s childhood is that her mother did become very abusive. She was a drunk, one who got angry and aggressive when under influence. The only smart thing her mother did was make sure she was never driving because a DUI would have immediately gotten both Penny and Jessica taken away. However, she was pretty stupid about everything else that she did regarding her children and what they were exposed to. Although Penny wasn’t really physically a victim to the abuse that her mom would put them through, she was definitely verbally abused. She also has slight PTSD because of having to watch what Jessica went through being scared that it would end up happening to her too.

When Penelope was roughly seven years old, Alex, the man who her mother was dating at the time, came to pick up his son, Tyler, from their house. He had left him there so he could spend time with Penny and Jessica for his birthday, and when he came through the door he caught Penny’s mother ready to hit Tyler. After that, Alex immediately took action. Not only did he break up with Gina on the spot, he saw the bruises that Jessica was covered in and immediately called the police. Gina was arrested and charged for child abuse, amongst other things that they found her to be guilty for. Alex ended up taking in both Jessica and Penny since they had no immediate family who could take them in.

Penelope's teenage years so far have been amazing. She has met three amazing people, all of their friendships intertwining perfectly, their lives in sync. She's met the boy of her dreams, one who keeps her happy, one who understands her to the point where she thinks he understands her more than she does herself. She's been able to thrive as a teenager, and she's beginning to take steps she never thought she'd be able to, farther away from the pain of her path. She is so grateful to know the people she knows now- Alex (her guardian), Tyler, Jay, Henry, Layla, Alex (her friend)...everyone.

Yes, this is a lot. But the background of your character is the backbone of who they are. This is a detailed description of my OC's childhood and teen years.

➵➵➵➵➵➵➵❂➵➵➵➵➵➵➵

iii. Giving Credit

➵➵➵➵➵➵➵❂➵➵➵➵➵➵➵

The most important part about creating a Detailed Oc, is the credit. What exactly do you mean by credit? Credit is when you basically acknowledge someone because you used their content, or in this case face claim, voice claim, etc. Now, there is a very small chance that the exact person that you are utilizing is going to see this and demand credit. However, someone else may want to use the same face claim for their own vision. So you’re saving someone from going on a wild goose chase to find that specific person. Depending on the template that you use, you may or may not have a voice claim section. But when you do, you should provide a link to when the person is speaking so that it may correspond with the specific character. In citing the voice claim that will be within the template.

As for face claims you can place them in the rating box that is first presented in the wiki entry formatting.

𝙶𝚞𝚒𝚍𝚎 𝚃𝚘 : 𝙰 𝙳𝚎𝚝𝚊𝚒𝚕𝚎𝚍 𝙾𝙲-[IC]Salutations! Leaf here with my very first tutorial for you guys! Today's topic: creating a detai

There you can click on the text, and then change it to say ‘Faceclaim’ and then you place the faceclaim you used in the area next to it. That way your reader will know as soon as they begin reading, who the face claim is.

speaking of credit, I would like to thank my best friend for helping me with these last two sections.

iv. Creating Your Aesthetic

➵➵➵➵➵➵➵❂➵➵➵➵➵➵➵

Aesthetic

aes·thet·ic

/esˈTHedik/

adjective

concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty.

Often times many people have trouble choosing an aesthetic. Either the one they want they can’t successfully find pictures to go along with it. Or, they generally never know where to start.

Here are some questions you could ask yourself when trying to choose an aesthetic:

1. What do I want to display to the reader?

2. How would this correspond with my characters personality?

3. What are some of my favorite colors?

4. What hasn’t been done before?

(maybe add mini border)

An aesthetic is what draws the reader in. Most times its the aesthetic of a post that draws in more attention to your post, and if you’re trying to get featured its a good way to start!

So to elaborate on the questions aforementioned, those are some things that you can think about when choosing an aesthetic. For example, if your character is bubbly and childish pastel colors work extremely well. If they are mature and dark, definitely deep reds, purples, blacks may be a good choice for you.

Important tip: when creating an aesthetic, don’t make it hard to look at. Try to make sure everything works together in an even balance.

Resources:

Here are some resources that you can use to help create your aesthetic.(Because Google tends to be too broad sometimes).

-Pinterest

-We Heart It

-Tumblr

And to help crop or edit your pictures you can use:

-Collage app of your choice

Recommended:

-adobe photoshop

-Pixart

This is going to be so helpful when I'm working on my ocs and writing fanfiction. I'm working on an oc teaser and who is the name of the face claim in the soft green aesthetic?

Thanks! I might use him for my next oc. I chose a rose gold aesthetic for my oc teaser, but I'm debating whether or not if that's a good aesthetic to use for him
