Good morning southern conjure!

As requested I am making a 101 post on cacti and their uses in folk magic.

Like all plants and herbs utilized in magic are 2 sided coins-cacti are definitely no different.

Some uses for cacti:

Protection

can be grown in and around the home to stop intruders

Can remove the thorns and add them to witch bottles or other protective items like mirror boxes or protective wards.

Chastity

Just think of the old spiked chastity belts. This can be to promote faithfulness and chaste behavior, but on the flip side can be used to “take someone’s nature” when especially when utilized with genitalia candles.

Hexing

On the topic of hexing cactus needles are also perfect for naturally occurring pins to put in a poppet-to cause harm, injury, malaise, etc.

As a practical tool

On a practical note the spines can be used to inscribe candles-or clay/wax objects with the intent/desire or names/info of your target.

Personal Growth

Due to the cacti’s ability to grow in and back from harsh conditions it is great for personal growth spells, overcoming obstacles, or spells to get over something that previously happened. As well as add endurance/steadfastness to a spell.
