⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀welcome dear reader, to my

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀post about how to make an

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀antagonist ! this post is a

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀continuation of this post,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀which talks about how to

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀make believable characters.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀this post will go more in-depth

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀on tips and tricks to write

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀different villains. before we

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀start, you, my lovely reader,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀must know that there are a

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀many different types of

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀villains, each with their own

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀defining characteristics. this

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀post does not, by any means,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀have all of these. this is just

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀to give you aspiring writers

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀a small insight into all the

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀possibilities. please do your

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀own research to find what is

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀right for your character. these

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀are not their real names, I

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀used these so it's easier to

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀grasp onto for the first time.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒 🜸

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑔𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑖𝑠

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑑𝑎𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡𝑒𝑟

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀these are the type of villains

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀that have the readers swoon

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀and await future appearance.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀these villains are a fairly broad

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀category, though they are

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀often relatable to the reader.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀they could also have a sad

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀and tragic story, most of the

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀time having a heart-wrenching

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀reason for their actions. these

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀villains are the ones that often

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀invoke the reader's sympathy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀when writing a lovable villain,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀it's always good to work from

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀the end and keep asking "why".

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀why do they want this? why do

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀they think like this? what is

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀stopping them from changing

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀their ways and being good?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒 𖥔

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝑜ℎ, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑎𝑖𝑛'𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑦

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   ⠀⠀𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑟𝑢𝑛 𝑑𝑟𝑦

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀these villains are the ones

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀that are really off in their

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀minds. they often have no

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀justification for their actions.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀when making this character,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀don't weigh them down with

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀only negative traits. these

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀characters are often seen as

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀snakes or foxes, as they are

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀manipulative, sly, cunning.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀these villains are often very

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀calculated and intelligent,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀seeing those around them as

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ pawns and nothing more.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀it would be good to give these

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀characters some amount of

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀control. make the protagonist

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀afraid of them or resent them

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀for a good reason. a good way

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀to do this to have the villain

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀destroy the hero from the

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀inside; ruin them mentally.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑑𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑎𝑟 𝑖𝑛 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑝𝑜𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑡

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀anti-heroes and anti-villains

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀are not the same. while an

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀anti-heroes break rules to

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀do good while anti-villains

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀will commit arson. an anti-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀villain has heroic goals. if

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀they were doing it for their

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀own benefit, they'd be just

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀a villain. they are willing to

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀do villainous things to

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀achieve these good goals

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀note that the anti-villain does

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀good, but they must be less

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀heroic than the protagonist.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀you could give them

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀complicated motivations for

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀their actions and relay their

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀internal monologue to evoke

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀sympathy with the readers.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝑏𝑒𝑔 𝑚𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀and with that, we've reached

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀the end of the post. thank you

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀dear reader for taking some

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀time to read this and I hope

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀you've been able to learn

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀something beneficial. feel

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀free to PM me any questions!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀check this post for tips on how

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀   to add depth to characters !
