Saturday came by a lot slower than Marinette wanted. But when it did come she hurried to get ready. Even though Adrien would be there at half 1, she was already ready by 12 (a massive surprise). She checked her reflection in the mirror every so often: making sure there was nothing on her face, readjusting her bunches if they didn't look symmetrical, pulling a variety of faces to get an idea of what she would look like in front of him.

After she had tied up her bunches for what could possibly have been the 10th time, she rested her palms on the pink desk before sighing to herself.

"What is wrong with me? It's just Adrien. Why am I trying this hard?" In the end she took the hair ties out of her hair and let her blue locks flow freely over her face. She rarely let her hair down but for some reason it seemed like the easier option. Due to it being close to the end of January it was still quite windy and the weather still wasn't the greatest so she grabbed a polka dot scrunchie and slipped it on her wrist.

Time- 12:45. She was stressing about nothing. She turned on her phone and was met with a text from Adrien.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
{ADRIEN} -Don't eat too much before I come, it will ruin the day I had planned.-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Huh " Marinette checked the rest of her social media s before going back to the message. What could Adrien have planned food related? Maybe treating her to lunch? But he said it would ruin the day so it had to be something else. Refusing to dwell on it she headed downstairs for a light breakfast so she wouldn't be too hungry when they met.

A couple of minutes past half 1, a light knock was heard from the door. Sabine nodded her head towards the door, a gesture to tell Marinette to get a move on. She stumbled off the high stood and unlocked the door.

"Adrien, hi!" She fiddled with her white top, curling and uncurling the hem.

"Hey, you ready to go?" He shoved his hands in his black puffy jacket.

"Yeah, just let me grab my coat." She disappeared out of sight for a split second before returning with her pink coat wrapped around her. "Ok, let's go." Adrien stepped to the side as Marinette shut the front door behind her. "So, what plans do you have that stopped me from stuffing my face this morning?" Adrien chuckled before bending down to pick something up.

"Well I thought we could have a picnic in the park." He opened the hamper in his hand to reveal an array of sandwiches and pastries.

"You do realise it's still winter and that is it freezing don't you?" Marinette quickly took out a croissant and ripped off a small chunk.

"Well yeah, but I had no other ideas and I wanted to make this special. Plus, we don't actually have to do the cliche thing and sit on a red and white blanket. There's plenty of benches." He shut the hamper and rested the handle on the crease of his elbow. "Let's go, otherwise a certain someone will have eaten everything before we even have a chance to sit down."

Marinette playfully squatted his shoulder as they walked side by side to the park. Sitting on the first bench they came across Adrien dropped the basket to his right hand side as Marinette sat to his left. Adrien handed over a paper plate and placed a range of finger foods on it.

"Very fancy." She laughed as Adrien nudged her.

"What? Is it not every girl's dream to be handed a paper plate on a date?" Marinette's laughs suddenly turned nervous.

"S-so this is a date huh?"

"You don't want to it be? I guess it doesn't have to be if-" Adrien stammered but Marinette shook her head.

"No, I just wasn't sure. I mean I was kinda hoping by chance it would be a date." She took a bite of her food to stop herself from talking. She would only start rambling and embarrass herself.

"At least we're on the same page." Adrien put his plate back in the hamper and turned to Marinette. "Which I guess leads me to this certain question."

"What's that?" She mumbled through a mouthful of bread. Adrien laughed as Marinette dusted the breadcrumbs off her fingers and ed him the plate back.

"Well it's coming up to February and as you know the Valentine's Day School Party is happening on the 14th. I guess I just wanted to ask, if you would consider. I mean, if you'd be willing to go with me?" Marinette blinked a few times before looking to the floor. She slowly processed what Adrien had just said. Did he really just ask her if she wanted to be his date?

"Adrien I-" She whispered softly.

"It's a no isn't it? Sorry, forget I said anything." He scratched his chin before sighing deeply.

"Adrien I'd love to go with you." Marinette met his gaze, butterflies flapping wildly in her stomach.

"Really? Wow that's awesome!" He returned to his gleeful mood as he hugged Marinette tightly.

"Can't... breathe... Adrien..." She squeaked out. Adrien quickly loosened his grip and smiled apologetically.

"Sorry."

"Don't be." They sat in comfortable silence until a cold breeze picked up. Even with her thick layers on Marinette started shivering. Adrien sensed her coldness and cuddled up next to her. She rested her head on his shoulder as Adrien tilted his head onto hers. His arm wrapped around her shoulders; keeping her close. Marinette closed her eyes as she listened to Adrien's breathing. She peeked open one eye to see Adrien smiling down at her. She stuck out her tongue like a small child. In response Adrien patted her head and stood up.

"We should get you home Bugaboo." Marinette pouted. Even though the nickname was bad, it was still cute that Adrien used it. Which made her more determined to keep on referring to him as Kitty.

"I guess. Today was better than I thought it'd be. Who'd have though a cat would be able to make a picnic work in the winter?"

"Still calling me a cat?"

"Still calling me a ladybug?" Marinette smirked as Adrien held his hands up in defeat.

"Fair enough. Let's go." Exiting the park they took a gentle stroll back to Marinette's house; cracking the occasional joke or laughing at the most random things.

When Marinette was back inside she let the warmth engulf her as she stripped all the layers off. She spent the rest of the evening thinking about the Valentines Party, and what adventures that day would hold.
