Hey guys! This is the first challenge I've entered. I know I won't win but I just thought I'd give it a shot  . When I first read the challenge a whole list of characters came to mind including Chloe and Lila. But it said to think outside the box so I decided to do a character that I didn't think many people would do and see where it goes (hopefully it's ok). Anyway I hope you enjoy reading! *it was quite hard to write as we don't know much about this character but I gave it my best shot- also hard when she has no given first name so you have to constantly use her surname which I hope I've spelt right  *

"Silence!" The whole class went quiet and tilted their heads to their desks. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. You could probably even hear the lesson going on in the classroom next door. No one risked speaking our of sheer fear. She had that affect on people. She was a monster in a purple shirt and white lab coat.
The teacher tapped her pen on her desk before glaring at her students. "I will not have any talking in my lessons, understand?" A few murmurs could be heard from the class. She slammed her hands on her desk and stood up.
"I said do you understand!" The class perked their heads up suddenly and replied in unison.
"Yes Ms Mendeleiev."
"Good. Now that I have your attention I will be putting you into groups for your next project, let's see." She quickly reeled off all pairings before smirking at who she was putting together next. "And that leaves Chloe, Sabrina and Marinette."
Marinette let out a deep sigh before throwing her head on the table in frustration. Alya patted her back before whispering into her ear.
"Probably to make you pay for all the times you've interrupted her lessons due to you over sleeping."
"At least you've got Adrien and Nino in yours, so lucky!"
The teacher raised her eyebrow at them as the girls glanced around the room, trying to look innocent.
Chloe thrust her hand in the air in annoyance.
"Can't you add her to another group? Sabrina and I work much better alone." Chloe crossed her arms and Sabrina nodded beside her.
"This is a group presentation, not pairs! Deal with it!" Her icy blue eyes stared at the blonde girl as she cowered back in her chair.
"I hate dealing with it!" She whispered under her breath as the bell was heard, signifying the end of the day. "I'll make her pay for messing with me."
As the class went to leave Ms Mendeleiev picked up a stack of paper and ed everyone a booklet. "This is due tomorrow, no exceptions. It will be an hour's detention if you fail to hand it back fully complete."
The whole class let out a groan as they shuffled out the room. The purple haired teacher looked to the door and sighed. "Pesky children."
As she was about to leave for the night Mr Damocles ushered her into his office.
"We need to talk Ms Mendeleiev."
"About what?"
"About your teaching position." He gestured for her to sit down as he did the same.
The headteacher typed something on his laptop and turned his screen around to show her his emails.
"We have been getting numerous complaints about you as a teacher. Apparently you have been rude and extremely harsh to your classes. A lot of parents have demanded we do something about this as their kids have come home crying due to your lessons."
"What nonsense! What I do is perfectly fine. The children are merely over-reacting!"
"I beg to differ Ma'am. I'm sorry but we have no choice but to-"
"Wait! You're not firing her are you?" Miss Bustier walked into the room, her hands hugging a pile of books from her favourite students.
The headteacher simply shrugged. "We have no choice, she's giving the school a bad reputation."
"Well, maybe I can help? Give her some pointers? Oh please Mr Damocles I couldn't bare to not see her around school." She looked at him with puppy-dog eyes, hoping he'd agree to her proposition.
"I guess, but if I'm still getting complaints next week she's gone."
"I understand." Miss Bustier grabbed Ms Mendeleiev's arm and navigated her to her room.
"You really don't have to do this Caline!" She yanked her arm free as Miss Bustier stared at her angrily.
"Yes I do! I want you to stay! You're one of the only friends I have here and I couldn't bare seeing you leaving!" Miss Bustier rarely got angry, this was serious.
"Ok ok fine whatever, so how do you think you can help me?" She paced the classroom and eventually sat down behind the front desk.
Miss Bustier grabbed a piece of chalk and wrote in the centre of the blackboard 'How To Be A Good Teacher'. She underlined it and turned back to the purple haired teacher.
"We will treat this like a normal lesson. Every day after school this week we'll meet and I'll help you to become kinder, more ive to your students. Sound like a plan?"
"I guess."
"Great! Lesson one- addressing students. No aggressive tones. If you're calm, they'll be calm..."
These mini lessons lasted the whole week. Every day the science teacher tried her hardest to be kinder, to be nicer. But she always ended up giving in to her anger; causing the complaint numbers to rise.
One day Mr Damocles had had enough and approached Ms Mendeleiev whilst she was wiping notes from the previous lesson off her board.
"I'm sorry Ms but it's been a week. You know the deal."
"Please, I'm trying my best. Give me one more chance!"
"I've already given you a chance. I hate to do this as you've been getting the results but sadly not in the right way. We're going to have to find a new science teacher I'm afraid." She pushed her black glasses back onto her face and nodded slowly.
"I see..."
Suddenly the whole of Marinette's class ran up to Mr Damocles.
"Please don't fire her Sir!" Mr Damocles looked around, mesmerized by the student's actions.
"I'm sorry children but the complainants explain it all."
"What complaints? None of our parents have sent any? This week she has been really ive to me, not moaned at me for being late." Marinette pushed through the crowd to look at him directly. "I'm starting to really enjoy science now actually. And to think we actually used to call her Moody Mendeleiev!"
"You called me what!" Ms Mendeleiev glared at the bluenette before seeing Mr Damocles looking at her. "I mean, I'm glad you've changed your view on me." She laughed slightly, hoping to draw attention from herself.
"Well I guess if the children are happy then, we're happy. Ok you can keep your job." The class erupted into claps and cheers and they ran away thanking the headteacher.
"Thank you sir! You won't regret it I promise."
"I guess we'll have to find out who the complaints are from, if they're not from the parents." He walked back into his office to begin the investigation.
The science teacher let out a sigh of relief as she sat back down at her desk. She picked up the homework she had asked the students to complete at the start of last week and smiled. Maybe Caline was right? Maybe she did have kindness hidden deep inside her. Very deep.
One thing was for sure, she was going to try her absolute best from now on to be a great teacher for the students...
