EFFECT breaks my heart.
But not in a gay way. he kills me because I have to witness what he goes through. I've just gone through it myself, as a matter of fact. It's a horrible thing that ALL gamers go through, some worse than others; it's called "Burnout".
I have a very strict schedule on how I want to achieve my goal of becoming the number one player in Overwatch. It consists of 30 minutes of Aim Hero, then 30 minutes of blinking practice against bots, and now we go into an hour of Quickplay. After that, any other time is spent in competitive. I play on a second called "Waking" which I use for solely competitive. Then I have my main called "Sleeping" for which I do warmups on.
Lately, though, I haven't been performing at a level that which I used to. I was a great flex, playing all Tanks as well as Tracer and Ana. I can now only play two heroes at the level I normally do and I get toxic a lot of times, too. I've only recently realized the problem, and that's called "Burnout".
Handling Burnout
Burnout happens to everyone, especially those with such a hardcore schedule as I do. I'm currently writing this blog at my grandmother's house in Cutoff, Louisiana. Plenty miles away from my computer. I wanted to get away from it, for the fact that I am addicted to playing and trying to improve. So I distanced myself to get a better attitude.
Another great example of Burnout was from a player that I've already mentioned. That player is a Tracer player for the Dallas Fuel (#BurnBlue), EFFECT. He has a much lengthier schedule than I do, has much more stress, and also has to a marriage from his wife. I only have to play video games, this man has got it much worse. EFFECT had to actually stop playing for the Fuel because of the horrible conditions he's been going through and took a vacation back to his home country, Korea. He might not even play for the rest of the Stage, thank god. He needs some rest.
I'd say the best way to handle Burnout is to do what both EFFECT and I did. Move away from your computer, console, or device, and take a long break. I'm currently playing Softball and Track, and I must say, I've gotten a lot happier recently and been feeling like my happy self.
Breaks
If you don't know what I mean by "Breaks" in video games, then you've never played a video game long enough to even be on this Amino. Simple, a break is just when you temporarily stop playing a game. I've had to take countless breaks for games like Overwatch, Team Fortress 2, and Counter-Strike.
There are multiple ways for one to take breaks, and it's all whichever best suits you, but I'm going to be talking about the main two ways breaks are used. More specifically the two ways I've used breaks and they've worked spectacularly.
Leaving Games Temporarily
This is explained in the title, just stop playing and go do something else. As I explained all the way at the beginning of the post, this is the current strategy I'm using.
Find a hobby that doesn't revolve around video games and then just do it and grind it. It'll keep your mind from exhausting itself over video games and keep it in a more healthy part of your life. I'm a hardcore gamer but life is important, too.
For example, a great hobby to pick up could be jogging. Just go jog about a half of a mile (Takes only about 5 minutes even if you're unhealthy) to keep the blood flowing through you and activate some instincts. I get it, watching Taimou pop the FUCK OFF against Shanghai is great and all, but go do something else.
Playing other Video Games
This is the more popular opinion of the two and one most streamers do. Sometimes, people get tired of one video game, but those people just need to play another video game. I've used this strategy before I started to become active in real life, and while it works, it isn't as good as the "actually do shit" strategy.
I don't recommend this one, but if you were to use it then you first need to find a game you are willing to play for about two to five days. In my case, it was "Warframe". Then just grind and play at that game. All there is to it. After you feel like you're refreshed and reformed, head back to your previous game.
Finishing lines
First of all, don't play to the point to where you actually have to take a break or go through burnout. It's horrible and unhealthy, and you need to learn from my past mistakes as a player and a blogger writing this to you.
Secondly, I would like to say I'm going to be writing a bit more for those who enjoy blogs on Overwatch. Recently been reading up on Gwacu and thoroughly enjoying her blogs. She's basically a new inspiration for me and I plan on some time collabing with her.
Lastly, I no longer have an editor and I'm working exclusively by myself on these. The position is open for the few interested.

30 mins blink practice with bots seems unnecessary, good blog nonetheless
The problem with effect, is that he’s seriously depressed. He’s been struggling with terrible thoughts for years. And this added stress from the league is driving him even lower. He tweets almost constantly about how he “should just die”. He needs a break badly but whenever he wants to take a break, people harass him saying he abandoned his team. So he never takes breaks anymore. And it’s killing him. He’s basically stuck because of the harassment.
good blog
it's always good to take breaks when you play too much overwatch
overnights i used to gain 200 sr sure but there were other time i'd lose like 400 sr and it really really demotivated me since i take overwatch pretty seriously.
a break is really vital as having a positive mindset is the key of getting better and getting wins
