I have been a solitary Witch since I first dedicated myself to the Craft. Mainly this has been out of fear and judgment - my mother was very religious when I was growing up and talk of practicing Wicca or Witchcraft was considered blasphemous and disrespectful. I was literally told that Witches go to hell (as I made and hid potions out of whatever I could find and hid them under my bed, tried to communicate with animals, and bought Silver Ravenwolf’s “Solitary Witch” book).

Another main reason has been simply because I never met anyone else interested in practicing with me until I was older - and that ended badly. I wanted so badly to have a community, but couldn’t find one. I wanted to be part of a coven or group and learn hands-on from seasoned magick practitioners. I never found one. For a while, I was solitary because I had no other option. Now I’m solitary by choice (although my partner is very open minded and does help me perform rituals and celebrate Pagan holidays).

Part of why I love this app is because I can interact with other witchy folk, learn from them, and still practice alone :sparkles: I value everyone’s experiences.

Are you a solitary Witch? If so, is it by choice?

Or do you have a group/coven that you practice with? I would love to hear everyone’s experiences!!

I’m a solitary witch by choice, never had any interest in t a coven, though I do wish I had more like minded friends. So we can “compare notes” or experiences with. But I’m thankful with communities such as this.

My small circle of friends are very open minded, now as adults, maybe not so much as teens. I came out to my friends in high school, I was teased about it once and I never mentioned it again. But now as adults they welcome it full heartily and even get me “witchy” gifts, ask for advice or even readings from time to time. Even notice that we have some things in common with a witch. :satisfied:

Reason why I stay solitary, because I don’t want to be forced to do spells or rituals I don’t want to, I don’t want to HAVE to learn things at someone else’s pace. I like to study/work on things at my own pace and with my own intentions.

I’m solitary because where I live witches are very rare. I have very open minded friends who are interested in and understand my practice, but I would love to be friends with another actual witch. I never wanted to a coven, one or two good friends would be enough haha

I’m solitary right now and quite happy with it, but I am interested in possibly ing a coven someday. It’s just not something I’m actively seeking out right now.

I ed a coven once. Not to , just to get involved somehow, meet others. They were very strict in their beliefs and didn’t want me involved. They referred me to a group of Pagans who met up each month in a bar. I messaged the group, but got no response. I wouldn’t necessarily like to a coven, though would like to meet those like me and those with differences in Witchcraft etc in person. Fortunately, I came upon a lovely crystal and miscellaneous shop with a chunky, friendly cat called King and lovely owners :heartbeat:
